NEXT GAME; Sunday 8th August, Woodbridge!

After nearly 9 years in the CARSL divisions the time has come to say goodbye and play our last game in that league. Unless we end playing make up games, which i doubt, this will be the end of our campaign and our association with the league. I have played for every Madison team in the Division since Tom, Behrooz and I ( sole survivors) left Clinton to form the Madison team. We have had some great years ( this being one of them ) and some bad ones but it has almost always been fun.

The challenge of joining SASL will be significant one because we think it will be a better run league with better competition but I'm sure we will rise to the challenge!

But, first some business has to be done and that is to win our last CARSL league game against one of the top teams, Woodbridge. They have kept close to our tail even after we beat them at their home ground 3-0. Match Report here;

http://madisonceltic.blogspot.com/2010/05/match-report-woodbridge-0-madison-3.html

If we win on Sunday we will put 8 points between them and us in the league although they will have 3 more games to play to catch up. Let's make it as tough as possible for them to do that.

Our current league standings look like this;

TEAM P W L D F A GD PTS

Madison Celtic 12 9 1 2 32 6 26 29
Bridgeport 12 9 2 1 38 33 5 28
Woodbridge 12 8 3 1 34 20 14 25

Bridgeport will have 2 more games left in the season after this Sunday so it would take a small miracle for us to win the league after forfeiting our two last game. But what a great run!

Let's go out in style by winning.....we need a strong squad for Sunday with hopefully more than just ne sub. And of course, the really important question is..... who is the beer boy for Sunday??

See you at Town Campus field!

  1. I have some beer left over from last week, so I'll bring that...a little more than a 12 pack of assorted beers....so, someone else might complement this with another 12 pack.

  14. .........best of luck on Sunday. The squad looks really strong. no last minute withdrawals, and we should have this one in the bag. plenty of short tight passing, and the style that led to last weeks demolition of the other woodies!

  24. guys.... Roniildo handed me the club finances statements and a list of those players that still owe money for registration..... a lot of you!! I have a question.......are you expecting the five people who have fully paid up to somehow pay for everyone else? Guys.... we all love playing soccer but we do need to pay for it.... please bring your unpaid fees to the game on Sunday or we will be bankrupt!!

  25. What F... situation can be worse?

My Mother living with us, some time she is a babysitter, and she make about 20 bucks just enough for her power-ball tickets and Fixodent, she is 69 years old.
My hero wife, make around $ 450 a week at Dunking Donuts, and she stretching that money for pay bills and food and she still paying her student loans.
I make zero money, since the construction is sucks now, but some time I do have a little handy man jobs to make something, to pay my medical bills, of my ankle surgery from 2008 and Bengays cream.
No help, such as welfare or housing, and today we made dinner for 10 P. with porgies and blue fish that I catch them.
My 4 year old son, have food and clothes and a good health, thanks God.
We have a rent of 1050 a month and car payment of $ 360 plus insurance.
But, believe or not, I paid the league of CARSL at time and I have pay my round of beer after, EL Gato turns.
A good Samaritan paid my SASL league, at ready, and I promise him to pay it back, when I get a job .

Why I write all this personal matters?
Is because, I read the blog, and I see the guys who run this TEAM, have it a hard time to collect the fees, or ask for a 30 buck of beers volunteer one or two times a year, and believe me, the beer money you getting back, if you stay and have a chat after the game.
If you have a worse situation, let me know, we can organize a small lottery of pair of soccer shoes or something like it to help you, being broke is a temporary situation if you have health.
But, if you think you are smart ass, because some one pay for you, and you want to play and drink for free, you are not part of this friendly team, and be ready to see how a short guy can give you some free tatoo in your nose. Just kidding this is USA we don't fight here, only curse .
I wish, the cops and lawyers, leave us to have a little bit of fist fight, when some asshole deserve a lesson.

Come on Guys make a good TEAM not just in the field, we need you all.

    CHEERS.

  26. Morning Tano! yes things could always be worse.... to be honest i know people don't like paying for something like soccer.... it should be free.... a grass field and a ball.... how expensive can that be? The main cost drivers we have for playing adult soccer in CT are insurance and ref costs. The insurance is mandatory and is fixed by the state. The refs expenses are also a fixed price. The costs per player are based on the number of home games we predict we will have, and the number of players who are registered to play in our team. If you register with the team and the league and then only play 3 times it really doesn't change what you owe in fees. Some players think that they should only pay for the game sthey play..... well, you can't run the team that way.... i would love to only pay my mortgage for the days i am actually in my house....it doesn't work that way. So for those of you that got individual emails from Roon detailing what was owed,.... sometimes stretching back to our indoor soccer sessions! please attempt to show some willingness to pay it
    thanks

  27. ...."Roon" is not a new player.....sorry Roniildo

  28. Tano... thanks for being so open and honest... i hope you don't go bald with all the stress

  32. And about the soccer fees Johnaldo, this is the best way to compare (from the movie the bucket list)
Some guys pay 50 bucks for a cup of hot beverage of weird cat shit, call it: Kopi Luwak coffee.
If you don't believe check the link on my next post:

  33. Tano... you will always find people willing to pay a lot of money for something novel and unique..... i am working with a local zoo to push my new idea ....Elephant Vitamin Water.... tastes unusual but its very good for you.... $50 a sip....

  34. Hi guys, I'm extremely sad to report that deer flu has beaten football. As I slowly type this from my bed Sat. afternoon I am still running a 101+ deg. fever and haven't eaten anything solid in 3 days. Needless to say, it ain't happening tomorrow. Have a great game. I'm out as SASL starts until Nov. when I officially turn 40, so kick some butt. I'll watch the blog and try to make some games as an innocent bystander.

looks like we are dow to the wire for this game.... if any of the walking wounded want to turn up and provide 5 min sub cover we may have a better chance of winning..... playing with only 11 and no breaks is tough! BOR? Tom? Arniesto?
