CUP MATCH REPORT; Windsor Rovers 7 Madison 1

The Celts 2015 season finally came to a close with a heavy loss in the cup to SNEASL outfit Windsor Rovers. The Celts held a very good Rovers team for 30 minutes but then they managed to claim 3 fairly easy goals before the half. The second half was much the same with a quick fourth goal for the home team. The Celts kept fighting and got a penalty which Roniildo slammed in to cut the deficit. But after a reasonably good spell the Windsor team slotted in a mother three  before the close to romp home as winners.

MOM; A lot of good fighting play from the defense and midfield and even though they shipped 7 goals it was clear it could have been a lot more without their effort. But a lot of credit goes to Dustin for pulling off some great saves, so mom goes to Dustin!

Have a great Thanksgiving guys!

CUP MATCH REPORT; Madison 0 Fairfield 9

Well I guess it was game of two halves but both were pretty rotten. The Celts got hit by a steam train on Sunday in the shape of the runaway Division 2 champions Fairfield. The less said about the first half the better as the Celts lost 7 goals to a relentless Fairfield attack. The second half was a much stronger performance by the Celts as they staunched the bleeding and allowed only 2 further goals. Believe it or not the defense played well under this hammering with both Jim and Tim holding off the masked raiders as best they could and the full backs trying they best to hold off the wing attacks. Dan was a stalwart in goal saving several shots that would have surely taken the visitors in to double figures. The midfielders tried hard but were over run by the fast moving opposition and the strikers were starved of any balls to them. We knew it would be a tough game but maybe not as bad as this. Watching most of it from the side I was struck by the simple way the Fairfield moved the ball. Pass and move, pass and move, pass and move....shoot. We tended to pass and stop or miss the pass under pressure. Anyway, we know that's all about fitness and  match practice so if we ever want to play like Fairfield ( apart from signing a whole bunch of just turned 40 year olds ) that's what we would have to do.
On more cup game left  before the season is over and then we switch to indoor!

MEN OF THE MATCH; They played under extreme pressure the whole game and tried their best to get a foot hold in the game so my men of the match goes to the whole defensive line that played during the game Flying Dan, Jim O, Tim, Kevin J, TomA, Johnny I and Tom P

Thanks to Annie for all the great pics!
