Match Report; Woodbridge 0 Madison 3

I missed the game but it looks, and reads, like it was a great one! Thanks again to Annie for the photos and Roniildo for this weeks match report!

Woodbridge No Match For Magnificant Madison!

It was on a misty morning in Woodbridge that we returned to the crime scene from last week’s match, but this time Madison marched away with a thoroughly deserved and comprehensive 3-0 beating of the “other” Woodies. This was very much the Woodbridge team line-up and performance predicted earlier in the week by Arniesto, who, despite a late week hamstring pull, showed on Sunday to deliver another stellar performance in the strike line.
Although Woodbridge had 2 or 3 fast and fit players in the middle and upfront, they were no match for the Celtic midfield of Fribeka, Halil and Carlos, and on the very rare occasion they managed to get forward, the back 4 of Telat, Goggellitto, LaBoca & BOR easily snuffed out any threat whatsoever from the Woodbridge offense, including the number 13 (which in the end proved to be his unlucky day). Wave after wave of impressive Madison attacks down the left and right, spearheaded by Fribeka, Halil and Carlos produced a cornucopia of chances for the Celts. From the outside today there was an air of confidence/slight arrogance about Madison (probably because it was LaBoca’s birthday J and we knew there was tons of beer waiting because Roniildo forgot Ilhon already volunteered for beer duty and also brought a cooler full).
Anyway, back to the story! Following a patient build-up involving 6 or 7 of the guys, Bambi delivered another fine ball into the path of Tano in the box, who was just pulverized into the turf by the left back! Penalty to Madison, which Tano (when he regained consciousness) calmly stepped up and smashed it beyond the futile attempt of the Woodie keeper to break his duck for the Celts. WTG Tano, and I’m sure this will be the first of many for you in the green and white hoops!!
After the onslaught of pressure and the opening goal, the Woodies organization was rattled, and once again, as predicted by Arniesto, a lot of internal strife and bad blood weakened the Woodbridge resolve even more. Even at this early stage, it was like shooting fish in a barrel for Madison, who could easily have netted 7 or 8 today. Similar to a couple of weeks ago, Bruce could have got the deck chair and Sunday Times out again (sorry Johnaldo…liked that line a lot, so I repurposed it for you).
Inexplicably, a few minutes later, Madison underwent an unanticipated reorganizational change (and I’ll just leave it at that for blog purposes!) with Carlos coming back to sweep, and LaBoca moving into the attack undoubtedly hoping to net himself a birthday goal, if not many. After more great passing and forward pressure on the Woodbridge defense, the ball fell sweetly to LaBoca on the 18 yard line, who nailed it into the roof, leaving the keeper diving helplessly in despair (2-0 Madison)! After yet another piercing run down the left flank from Fribeka he earned a corner that was floated perfectly onto the towering noggin of the Judge, whose devastating downward header was met by golden boot of the prodigal Jorge giving the Woodie keeper absolutely no chance (3-0 Madison)! A lot of internal Woodbridge drama on the sideline at the end of the game, but hopefully none of the two guys involved ended in the Yale emergency room.

MAN OF THE MATCH; Halil: Superb tackling and relentless running in the midfield throughout the match made Halil the stand out for MOM (You need to sign more of us for the boot camp!). Coach of the Match goes to Dejan, who should be in the running for the Real Madrid job if Mourinho’s negotiations fall through. He managed the team and substitutions like a Swiss watch and played team psychologist to boot. Well done Dejan, and hope to see you back on the field too next week!!!

.....and many thanks to Annie for the great photo's!

  1. Sorry I had to leave at the half--especially given the prodigious beer. Heard I missed the fireworks from the Woodbridge guys. Great report, though wasn't the PK our 1st goal? Unfortunately next week I'll be away (2 kids have tournament)...

  2. Arniesto! Send all reporter errors this week to Roniildo!!

  3. Just a reminder that Madison Celtic have been invited to participate in the an International Sevens Tournament in Hopeman, Scotland over the last weekend of September!

Johnaldo and Jodingo!! already signed up!

Will see how many guys are able and willing before i go to the next stage of planning

  4. ...and Happy Birthday to La Boca! Heard you did some cool puking during the game!

  5. Do we have a make up game this weekend or not?
I know we did talk about it a few weeks ago but not sure if anything was planned. I would still be out for that day if a game went ahead. If we don't have a game that day then our next game is yet another away game.... against Milford Magic

  6. Thank you for the report *Ronnie* (I like better than Brazilian nick name Roniildo, I'm Argentinean sorry).

    Annie:
Thanks for the pics, You came out of the bushes like a CIA Agent.
Question: why the pics looks like that? some editor make a sabotage on your job? everybody looks wider like a flat TV, I look like a Hummer SUV. and Carlos look like he is no more El Flaco.
I have your Shirt for next week with the #29
and we save it no just a few beers like you wants to, we saved two coolers full of beers I wonder what I did or didn't to you, may be La Boca was the one who scare you a little bit but, if you was stay until the end the other team was worse than us, they almost fit fighting each others at the bench.
They bring a little dog and we have our noicy Chiguagua to call it La Boca. Some one have the phone Number of Cesar Millan please ?.

I have good time and I hope everybody else too.
La Boca Happy late Birthday, now you are officially 40? hehe.

For the next game can we assume the everybody is in, and make the list of who is out?
Also I see there is no game next week can we organize the make up game that we need vs. Bridgeport?

  7. The penalty kick was the second goal?.
I thought that was the first.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Tano in case you didn't know the camera adds 10 pounds to someone's looks and in our case maybe 20 :)

Also these pictures don't get as big as Johnildo's when you click on them.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Tano, your PK was the first goal :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. The PK was the first goal. Jorge was second. Great report Ronnie I wrote an essay last night which I was about to edit but yours is much better. No official game next week and is Wife's B'day so I will miss any pick up/ friendly game.

  11. John count me in for Scottish Tournament.... Do we have to be in shape for that :-)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Jodingo How are you doing? I will call you tonight. What time to go?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Would it conflict with SASL?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Tano....funny! No editing of the pics by me! That must be how you all look...LOL I'll let Annie describe what "editing" if any she does on you guys

    ReplyDelete
  15. El Gato i guess the tournament may well coincide with a league game...lets see how many guys are able to say yes then we can decide if we have a team or if a subset of us go over and play for one of the Glasgow teams going up to the tournament..... Hopeman is in the North of Scotland

    ReplyDelete
  16. Tano....like the new avatar!

    ReplyDelete
  17. good to see Jorge back in action....and with a scoring return! One more goal and he will be top goal scorer!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Dejan I have also noticed that Annie's photo don't "blow up". The only difference i can see between my photos and hers is that mine are 1600 x 1069 and Annie's are 720 x 480. Mine is not a fancy camera though.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Roniildo....do you want me to edit your report to get the goals in sequence?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Is that true that the way we look:
I wonder if I suffer from anorexia now.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Nice report, Ronnildo...the excitment of the game must have caused your confusion with the order of the goals. Sounds like Johnaldo and I missed one of our 'easier' matches....Glad to hear we took the opportunity to score, as we should have so many other times in our previous two games.

Yes, El Gato, I'll talk to you later re. the U.S. vs. Czech game tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Tano-in addition to the camera adding 10lbs the horizontal stripes are just not flattering! I hate to insult the Hoops but it's true! So actually you are much thinner than the pics show! :0)

Johnaldo- I think the pic size is smaller because they get reduced in the process of loading the pics from my camera, uploading to the Internet album and you downloading and uploading to the blog. That's my amateur explanation!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Annie's camera is a Rebel XT.. probably an 8-10 megapixel file originally, and the Rebels take a 2X3 aspect ratio picture (so 1800 by 1200 aspect in native format, but more pixels than that). If they are saving out at 720 x 480, that's basically a VGA format... The web software has 'dumbed down' the picture significantly because an average computer monitor can't display more pixels than that, and the pictures load onto the screen faster that way. In this case, it's taken a file that started out as probably 10 Mb and compressed it to 100 kB... a file compresion of nearly 100:1. There's probably a way to use the smaller image as a 'thumbnail' and then enable a right cick that would save the original, larger file. The files probbaly downloaded off the camera in native format, or close to it, It's probably a setting in the software you use to upload and store the pictures that compressed them.

  24. great banter guys :-)

Johnaldo, will get back to you soon on Scottish trip, and feel free to edit the order of events from last week. Like I said, we had 2 coolers, and by the time i got around to the report, a little central reorganization must have taken over. Next time I'm taking pencil and pad to the game!

Bambi; I take it that was the professional explanation :-) I think you have a future in Mad celt media!

Tom-A, If you can't you arrange a Bridgeport match for Sunday, I'm emailling Ron Weller (The Hawks) to see if they want a friendly at Guilford on Sunday.

As Tano mentioned above, start a list if you are not around for a memorial Sunday match (Bridgeport make-up or Frendly), and the numbers will make the decision easy and early for planning purposes all around!

Jodingo!! Is see you're serious about tracking down Suzie B in scotland in September! Look forward to seeing you back....

    ReplyDelete
  25. OUT THIS WEEK:

    Johnaldo
    Jodingo!!
    El Gato

    ReplyDelete
  26. Scary, Bambi. When it comes to pixels, you're no "doe"pe.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm out for this coming weekend.

Scotland trip sounds great, but will have to consult--look into my crystal ball... Finally, a real haggis may be in my future!

    ReplyDelete
  28. OUT THIS WEEK:

    Johnaldo
    Jodingo!!
    El Gato
    Arniesto

    ReplyDelete
  29. Also-- How cool to have 9 guys tied for top goal scorer--all with 1 goal... Who will break the 9-way tie? Will it become a 10 or 11-way tie? Only time will tell...

Milford, by the way, look to be winning lots of games this year--must have added some new players. Will be good to have a little time to heal/work on fitness before that one (another "home" game for me).

    ReplyDelete
  30. Roniildo haven't you heard Suzie Q (CCR)lately? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XD76DLDE9GU&feature=related

Obviously Bambi's camera uploads the Stripped down version :)

Jodingo this game was easier because we used the width of the field to our advantage.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh, we actually 'discovered' there is a left side to the field? Simply amazing...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Bambi:
Very good Support are you working in Cannon customer service? lol I think is okay if we lose some resolution remember we are over 40 and some over 50 so I don't think some one wants HD Pics.
Specially Johnaldo I have it bad dreams from the #1 Pic I WAS DREAMING FROM SOME BEAUTIFUL BELLY DANCERS AND WHEN I ALMOST JUST GRAVE HER SHAKIRA WAIST, SHE TURNS AND WAS JOHN in the same looks from pic #1 AND HE SAID : "TANO YOU SHOULD BE SCORE TODAY". and I wakeup all scary and sweaty.
Annie you doing great don't worry we all know you just do it for fun and free.
Bambi You should take some aerial pics it will looks a nice perspective from up there.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Bambi-isn't that exactly what I said? ha ha! Since you seem to know what your talking about, let me know if you have any intel on the Olympus Pen. Just curious....you can email me. We'll save everyone else from the camera banter!

Tano- you kill me. Johnaldo as a belly-dancer? That would be something to see! (ha ha sorry J!) And you win quote of the week I think with the aerial pics comment! I laughed out loud once again!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Tano, Please keep those vulgar thoughts to yourself.....most of us prefer to NOT think of Johnaldo as a belly dancer!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dejan, so you're a leftward leaning country fan...cool :-)

You may feel sensitive for the side effects of some medicine, sorry, I forget that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Tano, Please. I was joking. Of course we enjoy thinking of Johnaldo in the Shakira-kind of way.....

    ReplyDelete
  39. Tano... now you have me worried.... you see a bit of my skin and you are off having a dream about Shakira!! I think you are on some of the same meds Jodingo!! has

    ReplyDelete
  40. Bambi....your answer on the camera details reminds me of your yet to be published player focus!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Annie Annie Annie..... you cannot dis the Hoops!
Not even to hide the fact that there are a bunch of fat blokes wearing them!

May have to strip you of your media rights!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Those are impressive stats!

    Congratulations are in order!

    ReplyDelete
  48. yes, very impressive.... a 5-3 defeat followed by a lot of Belgium beers

    ReplyDelete
  49. ok, Roniildo's version of the game should now follow the actual goal sequence and not one he imagined in a drunken state after the game!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Johnaldo-didn't mean to diss the beloved Hoops...but horizontal stripes are NOT flattering!!

Talking a lot of smack from Scotland, aren't you? You won't strip me of my media rights....my pics are too good. Ha ha!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Jodingo:
I was joking too Jody, thats way put thing abut your medicine side effects.
Any signal from Tom A. and El Gato?
about have a game next Sunday?

    ReplyDelete
  52. According to the fashion police Annie is correct.....lateral stipes are fattening and horizontal stripes are slimming. It may not help us but those are the fashion facts :)

Ronnie if you mean left leaning as in politics.....NOT a BHO fan at all. In regards to music.....usually like just about all that has rhythm & is without screaming. lol

    ReplyDelete
  53. Dejan-vertical stripes are slimming!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Annie,
On the Olympus Pen, I can summarize all my knowledge with the following observation.... the chick in the commercial is hot.

    ReplyDelete
  55. tonight I am cleansing my closet of all horizontal stripes(except the hoops!) and replacing with vertical stripes...

Bambi, we will sign you up for refresher course on preventing discrimination & Harassment :-)

    ReplyDelete
  56. seriously Bambi...that doesn't help me one bit....but did make me laugh!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Annie, you are correct! My mistypo....vertical stipes are slimming.
    Lateral/horizontal = same lol!
    I guess I was in the horizontal/lateral mode :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. i'm off the blog for a few hours and now you are all fashion critics! Just remember playing in the hoops is an honor!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Annie....yes getting a lot of "smack"..... but at least my photos actually get bigger when you click on them!

    ReplyDelete
  60. John, as long as it's not a hoop skirt it's all good :)

    " Tano, The Wilderness Years"

    ReplyDelete
  66. Tano....none of those guys are wearing the Hoops!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Tano...why is Roniildo licking your head in pic 3? Is this your new good luck action??

    ReplyDelete
  68. Bambi...pic #25....where are you going?

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'll be wearing my new horizontal hoops shirt to tonight's U.S. game--fat be damned. Anyone else going?

    ReplyDelete
  70. OK, i'm on vacation, and i'm on the blog.... officially a sad case

Hope those that are going to the USA game tonight have a good time!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Arniesto; Jody, Tom P, and Behrooz i know are going.... i think even La Boca

    ReplyDelete
  72. Johnaldo-had you understood Bambi's technical explanation you would know why my photos are smaller....but I'll dumb it down for you....my camera is better.

I'm glad for you that your "photos get bigger when you click on them"....

    Bring it on bhoy....

    ReplyDelete
  73. At last! A ghirl who thinks size doesn't matter!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Well johnaldo, whatever you need to tell yourself! We ghirls like to let you bhoys think that...... Ha ha ha ha!

I think everyone else is at the USA game!

    ReplyDelete
  75. US didn't look good at all. Lost 4-2. Could have been 6-2. Arniesto you looked good in your Horizontal Strippers with #46...

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jody and I were in the same row as you but section 140.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Tailgating was fun with Jody at the stadium. Good food and lots of beer.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Jodingo and I saw Laboca running in the field while the match was going on with no shirt on. The state troopers were chasing him on the field. It took three of them to take him down.
    Laboca are you ok....

    ReplyDelete
  79. sounds like a fun time except for the scoreline?

    ReplyDelete
  80. they just showed the goals over here.... 2-2 with 20 minutes left? some bad defending for the last two goals..... don't worry, the US only have England in their opening World Cup game!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Annie.... ouch! OK you win

    ReplyDelete
  82. I'm sorry Johnaldo, I couldn't resist, the setup was too good!

Watched the soccer game on espn last night, thought that was La Boca being chased by the troopers!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Guys,

have contacted Bridgeport and Guilford for a possible game this Sunday and let you know ASAP. I watched the US-CZK game and the US team didn't look good at all (weak defenseive line). Hope they make some critical changes to play better against England. US team will have their hands full against England though. Is LaBoca released yet?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Actually, #25 is not bad... I was in tons of space, and #26 shows me burning their our-of-shape left-back... unfortunately the keeper got the cross. Now #27? I don't have any idea what the hell I'm up to there, looks like a spasm of some kind....

    ReplyDelete
  85. At first I thought La Boca was gonna out-run those po-po, but I think he got caught up in the limelight and was smiling and barking something (of course), and when he tried to scale the fence his leap was just shy, and the po-po hammered him to the ground hard.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Annie, Just between you and me, my full name is Jodingo!! Ten-InchBrock.....

    ReplyDelete
  87. i hope you guys are all joking about La Boca!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Sure looked (and acted) like him....

    ReplyDelete
  89. Jodingo!! that would be between you, me and everyone else reading the blog!! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Oops! You mean now all the ladies will know?? Poor me!

    ReplyDelete
  91. i have a really big brain....does that count?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Jodingo!!...I could say "I'll believe that when...." but I won't! you are funny....

I don't even go on FB anymore...this blog is way more fun!

    Johnaldo-big brains do count.

    ReplyDelete
  93. So I have big legs too (the three of it)
Come on guys what is this a Mister America Tournament blog?

Did someone see the Canada Team I think we can play better against Argentina.

Thank you Tom A. I wish we have some games for this weekend.

Johnaldo: You see Roniildo speak to my deepest fear inside my brain and he did in Latin or Aramaic I'm not sure but it works.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Defense looked pathetic--could have used La Boca in the back to be sure--maybe that's why he made the dash... Though I did see the real La Boca after the on-field incident (maybe he talked his way out of it, and they released him right away?)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Tano ... Whatever ancient language Roniildo used it worked!

sorry about your 3 legs...probably explains the way you run ;o

    ReplyDelete
  96. Johnaldo,

Did you have a chance getting couple of shirts? If you did, Safet needs a large (#24). Can you drop it at the Guilford Sporting when you get a chance?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Tom

    going to Celtic Park tomorrow

    Large shirt for Safet #24
    Large Shorts for Bambi

    ReplyDelete
  98. Guys,

Let Johnaldo know by tonight if you need any shirts, shorts or socks. Put your order in that he can get it tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Tano do you need white shorts too? what size?

    ReplyDelete
  100. johnaldo, if you've not already exceeded the plane weight limit (not you personally), I'd like medium shirt & short #9, and socks (2 pairs).....BTW, i was looking into Tano's soul from the top side...just like bushy did to putin!

    ReplyDelete
  101. See what we will be up against in the near future bhoys if you get a chance

  102. Pic. #3 was a cute pic. of Ronnie kissing Tano's head and trying to come him down. I wasn't at the game obviously but Tano looked pretty upset in #2. Appeared to be a foul.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Roniildo

do you want your name on it too or just the number? medium shorts?

    so far;
    Large shirt Safet #24

    ReplyDelete
  104. johnaldo, thanks but just sticking with my number, and I'll play safe with the large shorts...is that what you wear?

    ReplyDelete
  105. well, my shorts are not as large as Jodingos!! but they are large!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Johnaldo, Please add 2 pairs of socks for me as well (lsrge, US size 12 if they make 'em in different sizes).

    Thanks!

  107. Don't deer have two toes per hoof?

    ReplyDelete
  108. 113 messages?????? you guys, and a lady, have nothing better to do?????

Tano, Maradonna promised to streak naked if Argentina win the W-cup - Thank god that will never happen... As for Canada (I'm Canadian and proud of it - Go Oranje), we field a "B" team (cause that's all we have) and you are impressed by the Argentina's win???? CZ fielded a "B" team as well and won, now US should be worried - Freddy A., where are you?? La Boca should have made the cut!!!

Sol Campbell would like to join Celtic... Do we have veto on this?? Then again, he goes from a third division English team, to Arsenal, wanting to go to another third division caliber team - What a set back :o)

Finally, I'm surprise and glad Jodingo didn't ask Johnaldo for a kilt with the Celtic logo???

I'm out for the next 3 weekend! maybe I'll come back in a better mood!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Netherland "B" squad won 2-1 against Mexico!
Too scary the potential - We are aiming for failure at the Final this time (given the past underachiever history) - nothing less would be disappointing!

    Go Oranje

    ReplyDelete
  110. Fribeka.... i'm on vacation! don't know what everyone elses excuse is! and by the way.... comparing Celtic to the standard of English third division teams is like comparing Halle Berry to Susan Boyle, or Chateau Petrus to vinegar, or Crouchy to Bambi, or Johnaldo to Jodingo!!.... Are you Serious!! and Canada??? are you really serious???

  114. I'm sorry Fribeka.
High five then, and we cool.
    Maradona make that promised?.
I hear wired things but that is hard to believe it.
Any ways I'm glad the is no one look Argentina with some chances to be a champions and keep like that is the best thing that they need now, when they looks like favorites they came back soon.
I didn't was impress at all Fribeka, when I said that? I just said the we probably can play better than that(Madison Celtics mean), shame on who make a game with those amateurs.
And I'm not proud to be an Argentinian, that just happen because My Mom, and after all I have to emigrate like you so is just bureaucratic matters where I'm came from.
I like Messi and I wish them good luck that's more enough. Peace Bro.

    Johnaldo: I have Pants Thanks.

  115. Johnaldo, I was just kidding about Celtic! I would never seriously diss the motherload of our team! All these players are welcome to play with us! :o)

Tano, don't worry, I didn't felt disrespect! I was kidding too-Really, Canada's team can't even beat Trinidad Tobaggo???? I'm Canadian, but since my Grand-Grand father is from Holland, I've always had a leaning toward the Oranje, or Brazil because of the beautiful soccer they play (not this year, no Rohnaldino???? Its like no Riquelme for Argentina)!!

    Cheers

  117. I'm agree Fribeka no Ronaldinho come on, thats sucks, he is great creator and 100 time better than many players, but they said he didn't get serious the Word cup, thats why he is out.
I love how Robben plays he is one of the best player now. if you are fun of Holland Team you probably agree with that.

    Tom A:
I play today in the practice of Guilford Hawks and they said there is only 6 to 9 guys for this Sunday.
I hope you can get some answer from Bridgeport.
