NEXT GAME; Sunday 29th August, Wallingford

Our next game in the SASL is another away game against Wallingford Morelia. Again, a new team to me and all I know is they have won their first two games away to the Eagles ( 3-2 ) and Hamden ( 4-0). Last year they came third in the league behind Sport Columbia and the Albanian Eagles wining 6, losing 9 and drawing 3. So this should be another tough game but lets hope we don't give this team two goals of a start like we did last week! We need to turn up ready to roll and not take 45 minutes to finally get into gear.
Looks like we will have much better weather for the game and a reasonable squad. The beer boy is >>>>>> El Gato!!
Directions to the field are here;
Now, like last week, these directions are taken directly from the SASL field directions master list..... I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACCURACY!!
In addition, if you arrange to pick someone up then decide not to please tell them! Or at least tell another one of your team mates! Do not leave it to telepathy...... this has been proven not to work!!

  1. Buenos dias! I spoke to El Flaco a few minutos ago...he has no hard feelings about the mix up last Sunday. However, he said he can't play with us this week due to a conflict with his New Haven team.

Looks like perfect weather coming our way!

  13. John,
We need to check the accuracy of the directions. I know from the past that sometimes the directions are inaccurate or changed. We need to emphasize the accuracy of the directions with other team managers and double check it ourselves with google map or yahoo. It's worth the effort and will eliminate confusions Sunday morning for all of us.

  17. ........from Tano yesterday!

This is the exactly address for GPS input for next game.
And the fields(2) are on the back.

....want another tough team in this section too...

    ReplyDelete
  21. ........El Gato has done a fine job at coordinating our home game fields with Madison Town, but what you are suggesting is verifying street addresses of the away fields, so that we can arrive on time. Tom, would you like to volunteer for this new team job? it would be very helpful, because the SASL directions do not always provide street address for GPS input!

  22. Group H: ARSENAL, Shakhtar Donetsk, SC Braga, FK Partisan

  37. Yes Tom I am the field coordinator. Directions on how to get to the Wallingford field. Go to SASL website the directions are there and also john has it on the fixture. Beyond that my friend you are on your own to figure it out. It's called the GPS

    ReplyDelete
  41. El Gato,
I know you are the nominated field coordinator and most of us but not all who are computer savy know how to check the blog or go to SASL site for field directions...but the question was the accuracy of directions....last Sunday I was helping 4 of our players by phone from home with my navigation device. lol...with directions to the Waterbury field. I just thought that it would be a good idea to check other field directions to eliminate any confusion in future. But if you think is not necessary, I will leave it alone then. Just remember, not everyone reads blog or uses the computer or has GPS
I gues I just leave it as

Celtic Glasgow need to buy an Argentinian player, or at least a brzilian on sale.
What about Enrique or Jodingo? ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Tano... they couldn't do any worse!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm so depressed after that Celtic result but I'm glad I'm not in Glasgow right now listening to the gloating of Rangers "fans" and the anti Celtic press..... they will be loving this

    ReplyDelete
  46. ..........I hear you Johnaldo! If the bhoys keep crashing out like this we will need to consider new uniform and name...no that would be blasphemous. what happened to the good old larson days gone by :-(

    ReplyDelete
  47. Tom... those players that don't have email, or don't check the blog have to be called. Then someone can read them the instructions word by word.... alternatively we could start offering a car service to pick those players up and take them to the game and back....we could maybe extend this service into their normal lives because they must have problems finding lots of places like the local Big Y or McDonalds. You would think guys over the age of 40 can work out for themselves where to go!

Anyway, short of actually travelling to the place how do we know if the instructions are accurate?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Roniildo.... it's been a bad couple of years... to think we were beating AC Milan, Man Utd, Juventus to name just a few, only 3 or 4 years ago!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Tomassito,
you are more than welcome to drive the route to wallingford field for accuracy. Otherwise we should trust the website. Ronildo has seen the field and said looks good. I offer my services to carpool from the circle for anyone who needs it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Johnaldo,
Next time you go to Big Y call me we go shopping together so I would not get lost....

I didn't see Dave he didn't show only Tomassito and Halil.

See you Sunday Guys and BTW, I know how to get to any soccer field in the world, even one in Linwood High School near Johnstone City UK. So don't worry about me and La Boca.

  64. Hello All,

Please read the attached email, below. This is a soccer fund-raiser in Glastonbury this coming Sunday to aid the Pakistan flood relief effort. This is not a sanctioned USSF (CSSA or CJSA) event, but many thanks to CSSA President Dan Rooney for forwarding me the announcement. The organisers are holding a cook-out/picnic (food provided) and there will be pick-up soccer too -- all for $20 per person, all of which will be donated to UNICEF.

I am sure you will agree this is a worthy cause. If you can make it, you will have fun and be well fed and your $20 will go a long way to helping the victims.

    Cheers,
    - Garry Archer (SASL Executive Board)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Hi All,
As you have already heard in the news about the recent catastrophe in Pakistan, it?s the worst humanitarian crisis in decades. The UN Secretary General calling it a slow tsunami.

If you got a chance to see the heart breaking images of people affected in the region, you know what I am talking about. The worst part is, it?s the poorest areas and the poorest people who don?t have much to begin with that are affected by the floods.

There has got to be something we can do. Not asking for much. Therefore, Kash, Babar and I are doing a fundraiser cookout and the proceeds will help the people affected in Pakistan. We will donate every single penny to the UNICEF.

    So here?s the plan:
Mark the date. Sunday, Aug 29 at 2 PM, we will have a cookout at the open space next to JB Williams park in Glastonbury (705 Neipsic Road, just after the intersection of Neipsic/Wickham Road). We have almost decided on the park. I will update soon. We will provide the food, sodas, ice, amenities and the fun. It will be a nice social event. We?ll even play soccer amongst ourselves. Feel free to BYOB.

All we ask is $20 per person and remember it?s a noble cause. If you want to contribute more, you are welcome too. If you can?t make it, you can still contribute for this cause. Please do consider joining us on Sunday or at least contributing if you can?t make it. Just, imagine if we were in that situation. I am hoping to get a huge turnout. Please do join. Babar, Kash and I will forever be grateful. Don't think much, just show up with a $20 in your pocket.

    Additional facts:
? More than 15 million people affected
    ? More than 1,600 dead
    ? 2 million homeless
? 1,300 villages affected in Punjab alone
? Worst flooding in 80 years
? Landslides and flashfloods are washing away entire villages
? Thousands of homes destroyed; thousands of acres of farmland uprooted
? Water-borne disease like diarrhea and cholera threaten the victims
    AND COUNTING?..
Experts have predicted the Pakistan flood could be worse than the previous three major world disasters...combined.
Maurizio Giuliano, a spokesperson for the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, has warned that the number of people affected by the Pakistan flood could be more than Haiti's January earthquake, the 2004 tsunami and the 2005 Pakistan earthquake combined.

Please email me @ nomie.114@gmail.com asap so I have a headcount. Please feel free to invite anyone else interested, friends, family, coworkers, acquaintances, etc.

  66. Roniildo... did you use your or my address?

    ReplyDelete
  67. ..........Johnaldo, I used my address for TP's pass. I just think since JQ sent that email out that he was travelling, he may have missed TP. He should be back now though? If it gets delivered today or tomorrow, I'll let you know right away, so as TP doesn't make the WFD trip for nothing, although he could cheer us on :-)

  78. Guys.... Roniildo and Tano have just informed me that we have managed to sign a new player from Guilford Hawks. His name is Dave Slade and he is a very strong attacking midfielder and forward. Some of you will know him from the goals he has scored against us in the past! We are in the process of getting him registered at SASL and he should be available for selection in the next two weeks! Welcome Dave!

    ReplyDelete
  79. ..........Welcome Dave! We are looking forward to seeing you scores for us now :-)If the SASL registrar mails back your pass to Johnaldo this week, you will be eligible for next week's match.

Big thanks to Tano for finding Dave at he right time!!!

  80. Need a signed Waiver form from Pink and Daviildo

    ReplyDelete
  81. Also Ron/John need their (Pink and Dave)info for ref. roster when they are registered to play. Please email me the info., Thanks

  82. Roniildo there is no game next weekend

    ReplyDelete
  83. s my pleasure to help.

I was worry when when all these games I saw that there wasn't 100% attendance to our games, like La Boca, Carlos now Gogg and Jack, plus some injured guys, like Tom Safet, Ron or me, too.
So is good to have some stamina guy added to the squad.
Welcome Dave to the best east shore team.
And thank you John and Ron to add my old partner to Madison Celtic.

  84. Just found out yesterday that i fractured my right shoulder 8 weeks ago playing against Southington.... that explains why it's been hurting like crazy for 2 months

    ReplyDelete
  85. Are you wearing cast? it is the common Salter-Harris 1 fracture?
    Hope you getting better soon.
At least you can use your other arm for drinking
    :-) Get well, my friend.

    ReplyDelete
  86. ..................johnaldo, HS! Can you still play tomorrow. Higgs and Arniesto both out. Just talked with Safet. He will most likely play, unless his injury worsens today! With a diminising squad, tomorrow will be very tough, but we can, as we have demonstrated, overcome adversity!!!

El G, Dave and TP's ID and roster info already in mail to JQ, so no worries there. I will email you their. You just need them to sign waiver forms.....correct?

    ReplyDelete
  87. no cast.... cortisone injection to reduce the inflammation around the ligament damage ( ripped the ligaments too )... may need an op if it doesn't heal over the next month... he said i can keep playing because i have already been for the last 8 weeks.... he said the worse that can happen is that i damage it more and have to go for the op earlier!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Johnaldo:
You may consider to play with shoulder pads like american football player. So tomorrow your position will be cornerback?

Seriously: now, that we know of your injury will give us a little scary to play like that. I'm not sure if Roniildo let you do so. But will see, who tough they are, and you may play some minutes.
    See you tomorrow.

  89. Tough draw today.... felt like a loss in the end.... but an 8 goal thriller is always good for the fans!
