7 Up Party at the Beach!

Apart from the great result last Sunday we also had a fantastic picnic at the beach after the game. Thanks to everyone who brought food, drink and cooked! It was awesome!

Our next game is this Sunday....another home game and our last in CARSL!! It's against the other Woodbridge team, the tougher one! Hope we can all make it.....who has still not been beer boy?

  2. To all SASL teams who use artificial turf fields as their primary or alternate home field:

Please remember it is a new rule that you MUST have proper corner flags designed for an artificial turf field, not cones, starting immediately this season (you've had plenty of months warning about this).

I would recommend the weighted base (with sand) type (http://www.amazon.com/Spring-Loaded-Corner-Flags-SET/dp/B001GANA4G), not the 'X' base type (http://www.goals4sports.com/product/scm4), which I think would be dangerous with the metal base pointing upward waiting to stick into someone if they were knocked over by a player or official or blown over by a high wind or wind gust.

Those I found at Amazon are only $44.17 (plus shipping and handling) per set of 4! On sale from $56.99. I've seen similar types of weighted base flags quoted as $135+ EACH on other Websites!

You can Google for yourself, of course.

  3. Behrooz and I attended the SASL League Meeting last night and a plea went out from the
Executive Board to find referees. The league is getting dangerously low on the
number of officials which may require some drastic measures to overcome. These
measures may include conducting games on Saturdays, on Sunday afternoons, or
each division taking a week off. I think that we all like playing on Sunday
mornings as it fits into our schedules very nicely.

If you know of anyone who would like to earn some extra money on Sunday
mornings/afternoons, or if anyone you know is contemplating retirement from playing the
game then the opportunity exists to become a referee/assistant referee and earn
$75 or $55 per game. The SASL is willing to reimburse any out of pocket
expenses to become a certified official, and the procedure for becoming match
certified is much easier than in the past. In fact, except for taking the test,
    everything can be done online.

Please ask anyone who you may know if they would be willing to become a match
official and help themselves earn extra money and the league contnue to prosper
    and grow.

For more information on how to become an official, please visit (or have someone
    you know visit); http://www.ctreferee.net/

Let me know if you have any questions.

  4. TEAM DISCIPLINE IN SASL

    All

For those of you joining us in the new SASL league we will be experiencing stricter requirements as a team. The league has very tough rules on discipline and players are banned, teams are docked points and fined for unruly conduct and especially abuse of the referee.... abuse of the referee includes but is not limited to the following; punching, spitting, kicking, questioning his parentage, questioning his eyesight or judgement etc.... we are not very good at not shouting at the referees but this will be an absolute MUST in the new league. If any players shows signs they cannot control their temper on the field they will be substituted immediately until they can cool down..... if you get booked or sent off.... not only do we lose you as a player you will cost the whole team MONEY!

For those of you saying goodbye to us at this point ( ie, you have not regsitered yet for the SASL season ),
many thanks for all the games you have played for us in CARSL (next week will be the last one!) and please keep in touch. If you want removed from this email list and future blog updates just ask me to do so

  5. Guys

for SASL.... All players MUST HAVE a number on their shirt..... no exeptions! We will be fined and you will not be allowed on the field if you do not have a number on your shirt!!! Please make sure this happens before Aug 15TH

  6. John,

you need to put the player jersey number that we have established before and put it on the blog for people to see. Some players forget their assigned numbers

  7. I like to said more things about SASL:

For those the are never played at SASL may wanna know they play with linemans(3 referees)
Side tackle are permitted and fight with other is not only 2 or 3 game suspension is a money penalty and if is the entire Team get out of control the Team will be suspended or expelled from the League.
The first division play hard but the rest are like CARSL league level.
Don't be afraid but gesture like my friend El Flaco do it to the ref, may turn as Yellow card especially to us because we are new team.
So be cool, I try too ;o).

    El Gato:
I read your post about defence, I don't ask for doing any chance.
    I never order any changes.
My comments are all ideas and suggestion to Tom A. Ron You Johnaldo and Jody (the Team runners)
I'm just a humble servant subject of your decisions.
And thank you so much for let me play any where what I want, or I can.
The Idea became when I see how fast and strong the team works when I saw last Sunday Carlos, Gogo, Telat and Johnaldo played at def.
But sorry, my friend, I'll be carefully of what I write.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Arniesto.... sorry to hear about the ribs.... probably not worth taking the risk of getting another kmock... get fit for SASL!~

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ribs still quite sore--living on advil... Tried running a bit, and that really hurts, so am probably not likely, unfortunately, for Sunday. Problem is that deep breathing hurts like hell... Doc thinks likely a fracture, but nothing to do but rest it and let heal. If you're short, and just need a body to maybe hang on a wing and send in a cross or two, I might be ok for that.. Sure wish I'd been there for the thrashing against my old team...

    ReplyDelete
  25. ..........another friendly reminder guys to bring your dues on Sunday. Johnaldo or BOR will be collecting, as I am on vacation.

    ReplyDelete

  30. This might turn out to be like the game we played against southbury 2 weeks ago...you don't know it till they show up on Sunday

    ReplyDelete
  31. I did hear from my friend on the Woodbridge team that they are quite thin as well--may not even get 11 to show...so may not be quite as problematic as Southbury.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Just to throw a minor wrench in the works I've been home now for 2 days with a wicked GI virus and fever. I'll still be there Sunday, but I'm not sure now what shape I'll be in.
Hopefully it's not Chronic wasting disease... deer do get that sometimes :)
