Our next game is a big match against North Branford. This is an away game that starts at 9am!The last time we played them the game ended in a 2 -2 tie after the Celts went 2 goals down and only grabbing a point in the last minute of the game! Report here;

Note the picture above. The big guy is a threat in the air...WITHOUT jumping! We need to clear the ball to the side, and not the end line if at all possible. Also, obviously, we want to minimize the ball in the air in the box. This will be a good test of our on-the-ground passing! No joke.

ReplyDeleteTrue re. Goggs, but this guy is like 6' 7" and he doesn't have to move much to head corner kicks. Speaking of which, when Bambi and David are in the game we need to have them in the box on both ends of the field when corner kicks are taken.

coverage and corners, we need to account for the big guy........he got me in the first game on corner i believe. No point putting a short guy on him and he is the only guy the hulk ran into that put ME on my ass. We might have to bring dave down to cover him.

As I recall, their keeper tends to target the tall guy with his clearances as well. Also, do not underestimate the quality of his footwork.

I-91 South to Exit 14 (Route 150). At the end of the exit ramp, turn left onto East Center Street, go past Vietnam Vets Park and take next right onto Northford Road, go 2.7 miles to end and turn left onto Route 17 North for .6 miles to Northford Park on right.
I-95 to Exit 55. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right (Route 1) and proceed East 2 traffic lights to Texaco gas station and turn left onto Route 139 and go to its end, then make left onto Route 80. Go West on Route 80 towards New Haven 3 traffic lights and turn right onto Route 22 West. You will pass Totoket Valley Park on right about 1 mile on left, continue on to intersection of Route 22 / 17, stay right and take Route 17 North for 2.1 miles to Northford Park on right.

Guilford and Orange games were postponed and abandoned today. We are now second in the league on the same points as Orange. Of course we have played one game more than them and two games more than Guilford. But if we beat Orange next week we will go top!!!
