Guys it was a shame that the game at the weekend was cancelled because of bad weather but i guess that's what happens in the Fall. Unfortunately, yet again it looks like our communication process did not work. An e-mail was sent out by Tom on Saturday night to those people he thought would be playing on the Sunday. I'm not sure how many people read that e-mail or how many people needed to be called but we do know that Jacques turned up for the game and ruined his Sunday morning. At our recent meeting at Auger's we agreed to improve our communication process through e-mail, blog and phone calls. Crucially what you need to do to get effective communication is to send a message and then to check it has been received and understood.......that is good and effective communication. I didn't get the e-mail on Saturday but if i had i would have been able to post something on the blog......even from Scotland!Let's try better for this weekend.....we have an AWAY GAME against NEWTOWN!.....roster checking starts tomorrow!

Regarding our game cancellation this past Sunday, I emailed only the players that were playing this Sunday and NOT to everyone and didn't want to create unnecessary emails for other players. I have also called players personally who don't read emails like Carlos, Telat, Ilan and Enrique. It appears everyone else read my cancellation email except for Jacque. I also like to emphazise that as a player, we have a responsibilty too and when you get up in the morning and the weather is questionable or raining, then is our job to quesion whether or not the game is ON and contact the manager. I really don't want to call everyone Sunday morning or Saturday night and that's why I tried to notify everyone by email the night before and not Sunday morning. I used to do that for years and may be from now on, we need someone else in charge of game cancellation and making calls to everyone. I am sorry Jacque for showing up but I think you should have also contacted me because it was raining steadily at 7 am.

ReplyDeleteTom, i know how long you have been doing the calls and the e-mails....i have been in the team that long! The point i am making is that you have a tendency to be selective in your e-mails....i'm sure you are simply trying to cut back on the e-mail flow, BUT, if you keep me off of your e-mails then i won't be able to update the blog...simple, yes? We did also agree at the Auger's bar that getting a phone calling system in place would be a good thing to do for rosters and cancellations.
ReplyDeleteAnd to ber fair to Jacques he did check the blog that morning but found nothing to indicate the game was cancelled. Anyway, i think you can agree the process can be improved.
I am doubtful for Sunday, i'm still struggling with the ankle but will try some excercise this week to see how it does

I knew you were away and may not have the chance of updating the Blog ontime and that's why I didn't email you and I wasn't trying to be selective. Next time I will make sure to copy you at the same time. Yes, we did talk about phone tree or phone call system in place. I don't know how to do it...do you know how to set it up?

Tom, I have 2 numbers - 988-1616 and 355-2493. I did call both of them. I imagine one of them is Behrouz cell. Is the other one yours?? We've been asking for a list of phone numbers to be available to everyone - where is it? As for your e-mail sent AT 9:35PM ON SATURDAY NIGHT!??!!? (yes I am yelling) - are you kidding me????? I do not look at my work e-mail account (BMS = WORK e-mail). The blog was supposed to be our means of communication - we stressed that out at the meeting! So don't try to put the blame on others (I wasn't upset after Sunday, but now..) - You wanted to stay the main contact for the manager and the league. I do understand that you don't want to call everybody on Sunday morning like in you were kindly doing in the past, but in the future make sure that your cell number is available, since you want to be the manager or that you have posted any cancellation in ALL electronic means of communication.

I am sorry that you traveled during the RAINY day but please for future purposes, if the weather is questionable or RAINY, try to contact me using my correct number to make sure the game is ON before traveling.
So far, haven't heard from anyone. Please confirm playing this Sunday and tomorrow is Thursday and the week is flying by.
