NEXT GAME; Sunday 4th October, Bridgeport!

Our next game is this Sunday and its is an away game against Bridgeport. By the looks of it, Bridgeport had a really rough time during the summer season. They struggled to get 11 players on the field and had an awful away record. Sound familiar? Over 9 games they won 3, lost 3 and drew 3, and finished second bottom of the league.

We played them twice during the Summer season losing the first game 3-1

and winning the second game 2-0.

I know we have been through some tough times over the last couple of weeks, getting a full team and getting our act together, but I think we have turned the corner. Our problems are not all solved but I think we have a great game plan off the field to tackle our issues. Now we need some really good luck to deal with some on field issues. Let's start by beating a shaky Bridgeport team and having a good Fall season!

Some guys are meeting at exit 58 at 8.45 am on Sunday and the rest will be making their own way to the field. Rob, our new Chief Entertainment Officer is on beer duty!

  1. Guys,

Please check our Blog Sunday morning in case of game cancellation due to rain or if you think the weather is questionable. We are not going to make phone calls very early in the morning. John would you please do the honor posting it on the Blog before 8:00 am....I will send you some fresh brewed coffee and I will email you if game gets cancelled or I can email everyone if that's too early for you to get out of bed.

    Thanks

  5. John, I was looking back to the time we started our team until now and there is about 22 people who left the team. What a turn around. You could have a lot of Hall of fame's.
Also, I talked to one of SASL team managers and found out the earliest we could start is the beginning of next season which would be next summer. We would be put on the third division and at the end of the year the top two teams move to second division and so on. So if we do well within two years we could move up to the first division. I believe the top divisions every game they have three referees. The cost per team per year runs around $2500 because each home game you pay $185 just for referee fees. But it's extremely organized.

  6. 22! That's incredible! A Hall of Fame would be fun.....

I think the new league idea is a good one and something to look forward too

  15. Guys....if Hamid or Rob can confirm that Todd is going to turn up then we will have 10 players for this game..... i think we agreed that for this Fall season we will be willing to take the sacrifice of playing with 10....... only 9 players would be tough though......Rob can you confirm with Hamid that he will bring Todd?....if that's a yes i think the game is on

  16. When I spoke to Hamid at 10AM yesterday he said he would make sure that Todd will play.

I think someone has to speak directly to Todd since only he knows for sure whether or not he's going to play. Who has his #?

  17. numbers have been sent!

  18. Guys...Todd is a confirmed yes....so the game is ON!! We will have 10 guys so it will be tough....but fun!!

  21. I like your attitude ("it will be tough, but fun"), CONSIDERING THAT YOU ARE NOT PLAYING! :o)

  23. Guys….Here is the situation….as it stands right now we have 9 players for Sunday after Todd pulled out…. some of you want to play even with 9 but I think that will be tough…. Tom is talking to 2 other guys right now and trying to get them registered but to be honest even if he doesn’t get them registered if we get a couple of guys to play we should have a friendly game with Bridgeport…who cares if they get a 3-0 default score…the league is a bust anyway….and we get to play! WHAT DO YOU THINK?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have registered 2 Turkish players, Tony and Ilam and they are cousins I am told. One of them playes for Bridgeport B team currently and will play with us tomorrow and we will have a better chance in the game. I have already discussed this with the league and waiting to recieve the revised roster. We have an extra jersey but nned another one fro tomorrow A medium or a large will do it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have an extra jersey for Todd for tomorrow.
If I play goalie as a friendly game, one of those guys can borrow my jersey for the day.
You still need one more Jersey.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Todd is not coming tomorrow so i think you will be the goalie so your extra outfield shirt will be great. Looks like we will have 11 for the game tomorrow. I will see you all before halftime!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sorry guys I forgot Todd is not playing Tomorrow. So I have two Jersey for tomorrow.

  28. I also have matching underwear or my old short shorts.

  29. I'd like to watch the 2nd half of Chelsea v Liverpool tomorrow after the game.
Anyone interested in finding a place nearby?

I am pretty sure the Bridgeport Portugese Club will be broadcasting it. I watched LFC v Porto a few years ago and it was great.
Not sure what the policy is there for Sundays.
    Any other suggestions?

    ReplyDelete
  30. you could just accept that Liverpool are going to get beat and not bother?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Gent's, looks like we have an official game with 11 players tomorrow. the two new players Ilhan bayran and Telat kahveci are officialy on the roster and new members of the team.
    Go Celtic
