MATCH REPORT; Madison 1 Orange 3

Madison Celtic were 15 minutes away from their first win of the season but succumbed to three late goals to register a disappointing 3-1 loss to Orange. A strong but well balanced first half saw Madison take the lead from a superb goal from Johnny B after some great passing down the wing involving Jim. Prior to the goal Orange had hit the cross bar and pulled out a string of great saves from Hulk. Although the Celtic goal could not be described as against the run of play the game was certainly very open and even. The second half was similar with some good pressing from Orange pushing the Celts further and further back. The Celts also had their chances up front to make the points secure but most of the shots were weak or rushed. And with only 15 minutes left Orange got the goal all their pressure deserved when their attacker turned quickly at the edge of the box and crashed a shot past Hulk. Of course there was still plenty to play for but you could get a sense that the Celts were crushed by losing the goal and their heads went down. Orange kept pressing and over the last 10 minutes of the game scored two fairly easy goals that could have been prevented

A disappointing loss although the Celts performance in the first half was very encouraging. Still a long way to go in the season

Man of the Match;  Hulk was great in the first half with a whole series of great saves but was at fault for a couple of the goals at the end. The defence played well overall and Johnny B and Roniildo in midfield were strong. But the MOM goes to Tim for yet another great defensive display with some great crunching tackles

  1. Spot on John with your report! Need to make a couple of strategic changes, particularly when we are winning, and we will be fine come end of the year.

  6. Hulkster I would ignore the journalist who writes all of our match reports...he doesn't know much about soccer... The bottom line is your saves in the first half stopped us from being 5 0 down before we scored. You also know that a goalkeepers life is a lonely one...hero to zero in one second. The striker who fluffs his shot , the midfielder who passes to no one, the defender who misses their tackle....all forgotten in an instant..Not so for the last man on the line... it's a tough job being a goalie....you are always judged by your last action... that's why so many goalies have to be tough guys who can take the ups and downs .... That's why you are a goalie!
See you next week Hulkster. Maybe the journalist will get his eyesight fixed by then!
