MATCH REPORT; Madison 0 Stamford 1

A tough defeat for the Celts as they fell to  a single goal loss against a stuffy, but resolute Stamford team. The game was an even one, although the Celts had to batten down the hatches for the first twenty minutes as Stamford set up wave after wave of attack. Some great defending by the back line and good saves by Hulk kept the score sheet clean. As the half wore on some great midfield attacking by Robert Bz, Roniildo, Jodingo!! and Jim allowed the team to claw back into the game. Some attacks by Kevin and Tano went close but by the end of the half the teams were tied goalless. The Celts had lost Dustin in warm up and a few players were starting to succumb to injuries with Jodingo!! next to be benched. The second half looked to be heading the same way as the first with chances few and far between for both teams. Just as  it looked to be heading to a 0 0 draw a mix up at a throw in allowed a Stamford forward to race into the box and round Hulk to smash the ball into the net. After that disappointment the Celts fought hard to get an equalizer but with no luck and slipped to another defeat

Man Of The Match; Great defence again with la boca, Tim, Dan and Johnny I playing well throughout the game ably supported by tomP and Hulk. But for his non stop running and aggressive tackling the MOM goes to Robert Bz

  1. Hey boys, it was a great effort on Sunday. So unlucky with the injuries going around. Never seems to happen to our opposition :-)

I feel we are not too far off the mark relative to our competition, just need to score a few more goals to get us going. We started really slow last year and finished strong, so let's knuckle down, and prep for the 2nd half of the season.

2 games left before we break, so let's try and commit to Sunday's match in Greenwich. You saw how many players made the trek to Madison from Stamford on Sunday, as well as the big Norwalk squad that visited us a few weeks ago. We need to have a strong away squad going forward, or we’re not going to be able to compete with the other teams, who consistently shpw up with full teams…give it some serious consideration!!!
