NEXT GAME; Sunday 6th June, Milford!

Our next game will be a top of the league match against Milford Magic. Milford sit proudly at the top of the CARLS League after 5 games having won 4 and drawn 1. Madison Celtic are only 2 points behind the leaders in third place. The stats show that Madison have the best defence in the league losing only 3 goals so far. Milford are not far behind with a loss of only 5 goals which implies the game could be won in a low scoring 1-0 or 2-1 type of game. But maybe the historic stats tell us something different? We have played the Magic many times of the last few years and they have always been good competitive games. Since the Fall 2007 season our record against them has been the following;

Played 6, Won 3, Lost 2, Drawn 1, Scored 17, Against 13

These stats would imply that we should win this game 3-2!!

Here is another interesting stat to consider; if you take the last two games of the Fall 2009 season and the first 5 games of this season we now have gone 7 games undefeated! 5 wins and 2 draws.....no pressure guys!

A top of the league clash, with an undefeated run on the line!

We may need some beers after this one.....who is doing that?

Roll call will continue in the comments section below.

    Hello every one!!

  2. Hello All,

The USASA National Cup Region I semi-finals were played this holiday weekend.

    Danbury United 4, Bristol Italians 2 (half-time 4-1)

On Monday, Danbury United showed why they have been Region I Champions in the past two years and have now reached their third successive final, although at the expense of another Connecticut team who entered the National Cup for the first time this year.

Danbury didn't spend much time messing about, they were 1-0 up within the first 30 seconds and were 3-0 up within the first 20 minutes giving Bristol an absolute mountain to climb. Bristol did get one back, but Danbury scored another before half-time.

With nothing to lose Bristol piled on the pressure in the second half, but Danbury were happy to protect their lead. Bristol did manage to score again midway through the second half, but after that Danbury held tight and fast as Bristol tried to get back into the game, never giving up.

So our congratulations go to Danbury, but also huge respect and commiserations to Bristol.

In the other semi-final on Sunday, it was virtually a non-contest:

United SC (DC/VA) 8, Wallace FC (DE) 1

The USASA National Cup Region I Championship Final will be:

Danbury United versus United SC (DC/VA)

The match will be played on Sunday, June 27th, kick-off at 11:30 AM, at The United German Hungarian Club Stadium Field at 4666 Bristol Road, Oakford, PA 19053.

All of Connecticut will be hoping Danbury can win the championship again, go onto the "final four" for the third straight year and this time bring home the National Cup for Connecticut.

Danbury United's successes in the USASA National Cup this past three years have brought national attention to soccer in Connecticut and the level they play at is demonstrated to be amongst the best at Over-30 soccer in the United States.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I noticed that on the CASRL discipline site we only have 2 players on the list for yellow cards...! Fribeka for unsporting behavior and Roniildo for dissent!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jodingo!! you could be Annie's assistant for photos etc

    ReplyDelete
  18. Speaking of which, if the weather looks good for our first home game, we should plan a cookout (simple one with dogs and burgers....not the smorgasbord-style of last year...we'll 'save' that for another day!)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Jodingo!! i agree...a little cookout would be great.... we can start organizing next week when we get a clearer idea of the weather

    ReplyDelete

    Are we still talking brains?

    ReplyDelete
  28. El Gato, Re. home game and WC game: Perfect opportunity to cookout and watch the game...it could be an all day Celtic event! All we need now is Stu to take La Boca and El Flaco out on his boat with his girls...

  41. Johnaldo, TANO doesn't like to add to list, but I do. Like to see the big squad right in front of my eyeballs. Builds confidence for Sunday!

TANO you are at the top of my list every week now!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thank You, Roniildo.
I hope that my desire and passion for the team will make us more united.
(I'm sound like a Salesmen motivated class now).

About the player we talk about latter, but they practice every weeks thats why they are in shape.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I 'll be at practice tonight assuming there is no rain

  60. El Gato: After Annie said that pics are fine and everybody blame on the Horizontal stripes I blame it on my laziness, thats why I try to do some extra work out.
Roniildo el Flaco es Carlos. Any signal of Dejan?

    ReplyDelete
  61. I'm out this weekend. I picked up a niggling Achilles strain while training last weekend, and it hasn't progressed to the point of being able to play effectively. I'll rest it this upcoming week in the hope I can return next week. Kick some ass on Sunday bhoys!

    ReplyDelete
  62. so we just have to hear from Carlos ( El Flaco ) and Jorge....I am presuming Dejan is still injured but would be great to have him doing the coaching again!

Looks like a series of thunderstorms on Sunday.... not sure what Milfords rain policy is....

    ReplyDelete
  63. hope Halil is ok.... he was showing some good form in practice!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Tano-it is the stripes, but I can't be dissing the Hoops anymore or Johnaldo will revoke my press privledges.

signing off for a while...see you Sunday

TomA and Brucey have got the beer under control?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ronnie,
Let's not forget any new player to show up has to be registered with the league.
Rain forcast also for out home game.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Roniildo....new players can't just turn up on the day of a game....need to be registered, then there is a 10 day wait....has this other new guy Safet gone past his 10 days...will he be there Sunday..... if it RAINS on Sunday what is Milford policy? I'm sure i've played down there before in a downpour....Tom A or El Gato any view on this?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Like John said....we can't have any new players to show up. you need to talk to me please and plus we need to know who these players are first. let's not to get too hasty and we will talk more about it on Sunday. We have a new player starting with us this Sunday (Safet) and some of you may know him.

Ruben and Halil....good practice last night...hope Halil is ok for Sunday...Ruben you should be in a good shape after biking for 12 miles after the practice last night....all the power to you. Hope the Sunday is not a washout...

  70. Tom will u do the rain chat with the Milford manager Sunday morning? I would play in the rain if they are OK with it

    ReplyDelete
  71. Jonaldo,
Have no control over CARSL away field. Tom is the contact for now. I think we (The Madison Fields)are the only "Anal Town" as far as the rain goes.....

    ReplyDelete
  72. El Gato

just trying to work out our system for alerting the team tomorrow..... i guess the Milford manager would call Tom if they think it's "too rainy" ? Hopefuly they are ok to be playin the rain.... it would be good to play tomorrow.... any word from Carlos or Jorge?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Annie...thanks for not dissing the hoops again.... 3 strikes and?

Be careful about the photoshopping though
.... the guys will be requesting all sorts of photographic enhancements!

    ReplyDelete
  74. good win for the US over Oz today!

Guys, I know you can't just show up off thestree to play! I figured these guys were previously registered with the Guilford club, and with the power of e-mail we could register add them to the roster within a day or so. Thanks for the 10 day wait rule. I either didn't know about it or forgot about it. No further clarification needed!

Tom A calls Carlos usually, so what;s the word coach?

TomA.. I repeatedly ask you for Astrit status and contact info. Can you please send me his cell# and email!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. TomA...how about calling them tonight and rendering a decision to the blog tonight..Milford fields are decent so unless it is a monsoon I don't see why we would not play? Another + about moving to SASL...rain is not a factor, as most of the world plays in the rain, and it is a lot of fun to do so!

    ReplyDelete
  76. see you guys there! I'm assuming game on unless Tom calls

    ReplyDelete
  77. It rained hard tonight but hopefully we are still good to go. If no hear by 8 am we should be good to go.

    ReplyDelete
  78. rain in northern CT.... but it looks like the shoreline area will get the worst of it later today.... hopefully we will be fine....

I will start driving down to Milford at 830 unless i hear anything different

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'm 10 miles from that place and is sunny some showers in the afternoon so we cool see you there.
Gato are you passing by my house?
What time. I'm just 15min from the field.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Tano....great! see you on the field.... i have socks for you!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Tano, pick you up at 9

    ReplyDelete
  82. great win guys! report later tonight!~

    ReplyDelete
  83. Forgot my big black umbrella at the pitch! did anyone pick it up? Great win! we still need to sort out our subbing - there was confusion in the midfield in the second half in term of player/position! no damage today but in a close game???
