The New Outdoor Season Starts This Sunday!

Hi Guys, it's that time of the year again when the fields have just had their first cut of the Spring, the trees are beginning to bud and you realize you haven't looked at a ball since last year! Yes the new outdoor season starts this weekend with an away game against Southington. This will be a 10 am kick off and we will start the roll call of players who are available as of today....I'm in!

More details on the match later in the week. BUT, Please come prepared to pay your $35 season fee for CARLS!

I have also added some new features to the blog to help with communication. If you look over to the upper right you will see a section called "PAGES". Underneath, there is a series of pages that will have the season fixture list ( when i get it from Tom ), field directions, stats from current and past seasons as well as a current news section and some handy web sites. Please go here for up to date info when you need it. If there is info you would like to have more or less permanently posted then this would be the place to have it. Just send it or tell me and i will post it there.

SOCCER TIPS!
And just to get us back in the groove we will have a series of soccer tips from some of the Madison Celtic greats! This one is from Fribeka showing us all how to take a perfect corner!

  6. Hi Guys,
I'm unfortunately unlikely to make it, I turned my ankle pretty thoroughly Thursday. I really can't run at all right now, so it's hard to see it being ready to play on Sunday. But, I'm stupid, and I really want to play, so we'll see. I do have 3 other legs left.....

  22. Sorry, boys! As much I want to play, this is my son first swimming lesson (11AM) and one of the parents needs to be in the pool - I couldn't get out of it and frankly when it comes to first with my son I'd like to be there! But don't get any idea, I'm dying to get back on the field and it will kill me ~10AM and again ~12AM. Good luck Gents and Jodingo :o)

  23. I just heard from Hamid the Enigma. He is on vacation in Florida and will be back Saturday. He asked for the game location and most probably he will be there. I just have to email him the directions to the field. I talked to Tim and Tom J. last Thursday and they said yes. I emailed them again today to confirm and waiting for answer.
The directions to the fields are on http://www.carsl.org/directions.html
That is really bad about Cheshire I thought "El President e" canceled the game. Here we go again.......

  24. Southington & Southington United – DePoalo Middle School (Fall) (Mapquest)
    From I-84:
Exit 32 (Queen Street / Route 10), take Route 10 South, just after the cemetary on
the left, take left onto Flanders Street. Up the hill to the stop sign in front of the High
School, turn right onto Pleasant Street. Depaola is about ¾ mile on left.
From the south I-91 to I 691 West:
Exit 4 (Rt 322) Right off the exit. Right At next Light.
At Lewis Farms take right onto Belle View. At next stop sign (Berlin St.) take a right.
Go about 1 mile to Pleasant St and take a left. DePaolo is about 1 mile on right.
This is the field directions I have. They do have another field in the smelly park. Hope this is it.

  25. Good luck this weekend bhoys.

Injury update: The Doc told me this morning that I must take it easy... which I promptly ignored. I played a 20-minute, short-field, two-touch scrimmage with daughter's team this evening and altho I had no pain while running, the ache I'm now feeling in my newly-repaired hip is telling me I need to take some time off before I go out for 90 minutes.

  32. Guys,
I am away for the most of the week and be back on Saturday. Few important notes:
    1. The game is at Southington Rec. park for this Sunday and some of us can carpool from Madison Circle Pizza parking @ 8:30. Please let us know if you planning to be there. IF going directly, the directions are on the website www.carsl.org and look for Southington FC in Spring. Most of us have played on that field many times before.
    2. For Home games, we have been using Tom J. corner flags and he has been nice enough letting us to use them. We need to buy new flags that I can return his for the next Home game on the 25th of April.
    3. I have a new goalie (Bruce) who is very interested to play and may be I can have him to come to our game on 25th. Also, Jim is is interested to play goalie and need to let him know if we need him back. Let me know about your feedback please.
    4. I am waiting to receive the new roster with ruben's name on it.

    I think that's it if I didn't miss anything.

    Thanks

  33. We will try for a team photograph on Sunday and the next home game so we can have the best chance to get the whole squad in the photo!

  34. Tonight's practice with the Hawks is NOT at Cox!!! New venue Calvin Leete school located at 280 South Union Street in Guilford (off Rte 146 (Boston Rd.

    Also,
I have a 2 new guys who are very interested in playing with us (formerly with Woodbridge). I was thinking of inviting one of them to our Southington friendly, but there seems to be an excellent response. Let me know thoughts on this asap, so I can get back to my friends.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ron,
If your friends names are not on the roster they would not be able to play since our game on Sunday is a league game. We could add them to the roster and get them passes for the future home games.
Also the scrimmage games on Thursday's would probably be at Calvin Leete school. I will find out more from Tom Karasay of Guilford team tomorrow. Doubtful if there would be one tomorrow. We need the directions to the field for Sunday on the blog. The one I put up earlier is not for spring season.
