Horror Show Cannot Be Repeated!

Hi Guys....we have a home game this Sunday against Southington and we all hope the horrors of our play last Sunday will not be repeated! I think a number of ideas have come up about how we can improve our on field tactics.......some of those ideas are on the previous comments section but largely focus on us having a more traditional Center Forward player that sticks to a position that pressures the last defender in the opposition defensive line. It's a tough role but i think we need a focal point for our midfielders to aim at. What do you think? Any other ideas?

The roster call has us standing at 9 players so far for Sunday.....check in guys before Thursday!

  1. This Sunday we will be playing against Southington FC and this is another HOME game for us. We will be playing at the Exchange field and please be there no later than 9:30 am.

Please use the top parking area coming through the Surf Club and DO NOT use the parking on the Boston Post Road side. Thank you

Entertainment after the game is only allowed at the Surf Club and NOT in the parking area.

Behrooz (Field coordinator) please help us by checking the field condition early in the morning in case of inclement weather condition. Thanks

  2. El Gato...yes, we need to do the call ups for those terrible non bloggers.... Hamid the Enigma was a no show last weekend even though he was marked down as as a YES...so we need to make sure our yes list is a real yes list....... we can also hope that the cops don't try and arrest any of our players on the way to the game this weekend.... ;o)

  5. Better defense will help (esp. me). But most of the match we had no players in front of the goal and not surprisingly no shots.

Their goals came from keeping one or two players even with our sweeper for much of the game and from long balls to chase down.
Our goal also came from a long ball on a set piece.

Maybe when it is windy like that - or when our passing is inconsistent - we should send a few long balls over the midfield to the corner flags and take advantage of our speed. Just a thought.

  15. The forecast for Sunday is good but I think it is a good idea to check the condition of the field before playing on Sunday. Making sure all the goals are in the right place and the field is lined properly. If not, we may have to contact the Town of madison

  17. I am still questionable for Sunday....but would also volunteer for the CF position if I can play....I'm more used to playing there than MF.

  18. ...and no work has been done on Exchange Field. I was by there last week, and as usual the field has been overplayed with dirt spots in front of the goals and along the touchlines due to the little kids' playing across the width of the field.

  19. Dejan, I would need my uniform back for this Sunday. Did you get a shirt from John yet. You probably need to get a white short for yourself for Sunday.

    ReplyDelete
  20. John,
Did you give a Jersey to Dejan yet? If not, can you please have one for him for this Sunday.

  21. Behrooz, yes he has a new shirt....i gave 3 new shirts to the CFO

  22. I think having BOR, Roniildo, Jodingo!! and potentially Scotty all willing to play CF is a good sign! I would have guys in that position busting a gut for twenty mins then subbing out NO MATTER HOW WELL THEY ARE PLAYING! CF is a tough role if you are doing it right....

  23. it sounds like Exchange field is a real mess.....what's plan B?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, Exchange field is a mess. Nothing was done to improve it except to allow crab grass clumps to grow in front of each goal. Even the nets will need to be re-attached.

I spoke to the Madison O-30 team captain Tues evening... they have only one game left, then they will not need the artificial surface at the high school. Who do we contact about getting that field? I'd be happy to make the call.

  25. guys, if you have timers bring them on Sunday to help with the timing for subs....

ElGato...Dejan got his new shirt last week. Is there anyway you can grab another field today and notify Southington. Please verify either way...thanks. I'm still unclear on how we choose our field each week? Last week at the high school, this week at the exchange! Is there a web sign-up for the fields and the town assigns them to each team early in the week? If anyone really knows, please clarify.

  26. I will contact the town and see if we can change the location of the field and will let you know as soon as I can

  27. For new or old players who don't have a numbered jersey yet: please visit the Sporting Good store in Guilford or any other store that you prefer to get your jersey numbered ASAP before Sunday. Scott can use #26, Dejan #27 and Carlos #28. Ron, Behrooz or Rob please let Dejan Poopon and Carlos know please. I believe Ilhon and Telat already have a numbered jersey. Thanks

  28. Gents,
I believe the field location for this season was set up by Tom A. and the town already. So if we need to try to change our game for this weekend, the town has to approve it. The only other field would be back at Jensen field where you played last week. As far as the turf field goes setting it up for this weekend is not possible. Since O30 has it for this weekend and we only have one more home game left on the 22th.

  29. I could try contacting the Hand high School field director (I need the contact name from Tom A.) for the next season immediately and set things up if they allow. That should not be hard since there is no spring HS football or soccer games in the spring.

  30. El Gato.... i never feel that Madison Town are all that receptive to Adult soccer....certainly it would not surpise me to turn up this Sunday at the Exchange field to find no goalposts/nets or field markings....they dont seem to care

    ReplyDelete
  31. I will check on Saturday to make sure the nets are up. We have to move our home field to a different town. How about Glasgow.....
