Anyway watch this space over the next few days for details
Guilford Celtic is a Connecticut based team playing in the Shoreline Adult Soccer League since 2010. The team was formed in 2003 and played in the Connecticut Adult Recreational Soccer League for 7 years. In 2017 we changed our name from Madison to Guilford Celtic! The team is inspired by Glasgow Celtic FC...probably the greatest football team on the planet!

Got Field?
Hope you are enjoying the nice Summer break guys. The league finally made up all the postponed games and after 18 games we sit in 3rd position ONLY 2 POINTS BEHIND Guilford! Yes, Guilford lost there 4th game of the season to Morelia 4-3 yesterday. We now have a real chance to get into the promotion spot when the league starts up again in the middle of August. Which brings me to my main issue....practice games and access to a field! Looks like our home field is out of commission all Summer for repairs ( really? ) so we will need to find a field to play on which is proving harder than I thought. If you know of fields we can use on a Sunday morning please send in your suggestions. Tom A has a friendly lined up for us against Cheshire if we can find a field. Maybe we should play them at their home Tom? What do you think?

I was trying to arrange with bunch of friends who are younger players and they would like to come to us for a friendly game and possibly go for a picnic at the beach afterward....but seems we are having problems finding a field. I know Elgato is trying to get a field at the HS and we will see what happens by mid-week. So who is up for it for this Sunday??
ReplyDeleteTomA i'm in if we can get a field
ReplyDeletedo the Cheshire guys want to play us again? we could go to them?
ReplyDeleteI can ask Cheshire again but promised to the other group to play them first but I will see if they can provide a field as well
ReplyDeleteJohn... Buy some acres and with El Gato we help you to build the Connecticut Celtic Field.
ReplyDeleteTano good idea! But may not get that done on time to help us with this Summer! Any field ideas from anyone??
ReplyDeleteanyone else available to play this Sunday morning ( if we find a field)?
ReplyDeleteSo far;
TomA
Johnaldo
looks like Orange drew with the Eagles in their last game of the season....they are still way ahead of us but at least they have shown a bit of weakness!
ReplyDeleteI am in for Sunday if we find a field.
ReplyDeleteI'm in for Sunday if I don't have to work................on a 7 day schedule in nyc but Sundays may be stopping
ReplyDeleteCan't make it this weekend.
ReplyDeleteGo U.S.A. today!! Noon on ESPN
boooo did i scare you
ReplyDeleteBaracjack! no not scared
ReplyDeleteso far we have 4 guys for Sunday and no field yet....so we can play in my yard
ReplyDeletegood win for USA!
ReplyDeleteLooks like we can't get any fields according to Elgato.....there is a nice indoor grass turf field, $10/person.....monday nights....let me know if we can get at least 7 players.....Cheshire can't play until august 7th I am told....that's the Sunday before the start of league games
ReplyDeleteJust a question - are we being a bit too formal with the field thing? There are plenty of local parks where we could set up cones and just play a game, folks do it all the time for instance at Haddam Meadows in Higganum - it has a massive flat space, several full-sized pitches worth.

PS... For those interested, fishing this year in NC was one of the worst years in recent memory, and has been apparently all year. For the first time in many years we fished ledges off the coast and found a total of Zero King Mackerel (we usually catch 10-20 per trip), one small Mahi Mahi, 2 Barracudas (useless), one small shark (Atlantic Sharpnose - dinner!) and one amerjack Tuna (inedible, but broke off anyway because we're undertackeled for Tuna). The mackerel and Mahi catch all year has been lousy apparently. C'est la vie!

Bambi i agree... we need to get some practice in over the Summer because the start of the late summer/Fall season will be here before we know it! I did ask people tom suggest fields and so far only you and Tom have suggested any.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else been to the Higganum fields?
I think Roniildo has dropped off the blog but if you are reading did we pay our league fees?
ReplyDeleteBambi sorry about the poor fishing in NC maybe better luck on the Seine?

ReplyDeleteCongrats on closing the gap on Guilford!
After a brutal move (details not to be revealed in writing), I'm sitting poolside @ the country club witnessing an apparent silicone convention ;-)
I've not yet found a team for myself, but my kid has made all 3 squads for which she has tried out. I'm still nursing my hamstring back to full fitness... Today's 5 mile run went better than Wednesday's so it may be almost back. Next week we'll be in Colorado where I can do some high altitude training followed by hours of ice-water immersion therapy while I hunt for the ever-elusive cutthroat trout!
Adios mi amigos!

ReplyDeleteI am psyched that morellia helped us out with Guilford..great result
......been like herding cats trying to get some practice sessions in, but mainly cause we can't seem to access a pitch to play on, which is just bizarre to me...go figure?
ReplyDelete........johnaldo, thanks for the updates on our competition....wonder what happened with morelia and orange....hard to believe, but if Orange had 2 or 3 of their best players on vacation or something, could see that!
ReplyDeleteBambi, think ur right...we could pick any one of the local parks and just play....shame the fishing bounty was low this year, but hopefully the fun made up for it....
ReplyDelete......looking forward to the final on Sunday! Will be very interesting to see if the US paid a lot of attention to the technical side of Japan?
