Yes, I know. It's Summer. It's hot and if you stick your head outside your AC protected bubble even for a second you are drenched in horrible sweat. But even with all the normal Summer temptations of sitting very still and eating cheese burgers and drinking beer, a number of you have mentioned trying to get together and doing some training or kicking a ball! Remember what a ball looks like? It's round, it's white and moves high in the air when you kick it. Some of us are in serious need of reacquainting ourselves with the art and craft of soccer. And some of us just have to lose some weight after a few weeks of Summer eating and drinking!
Ruggerho is suggesting getting together this Sunday morning at Cox high school at 9.30 AM to do a mixture of fitness warm up exercises and some ball kicking. Are you up for it? Will you mind sweating a bit?
If yes, just reply in the comments section below. The season re-start will happen sooner than you think and we must start off full blast! Ooops my burgers need flipping , see you later!

ReplyDeleteA few players have resisted having a player focus so we dont have any for Halil, Ilhan or Talat but I'm willing and ready any time they want!
New players like Rugginho, David and Kris have still to be put through the interview process!
Great practice this morning. Rugginho, El Gato and Tano were at Cox at 8:30 sharp and had a great warm up and started a practice of triangle movement. Rugginho is well deserved Fitness director. Very organized warm up and practice. Kris showed up at 9 and Tom P. 15 minutes later. We practiced the same movement formation and then played 2v2 with alternating third forward. Great fun and it helped me alot. It would be great if we can do that one afternoon during the week aswell. No one was on the field except us. I believe we can utilize Cox fields every Sunday at 8:30 am until our season starts. Unfortunately I would not be around next Sunday 7/31 but would be available every Sunday after. Lets try getting more players one afternoon during the week to do the same. Also, every Wednesday afternoon at 6 there is a pick-up game at HK high school and every Sunday at 6 in Durham. Kris informed us of the pick-up games which he participates. let me tell you I enjoyed alot practicing today and it was extremely tiring and helpful. Way to go Rugginho....
ReplyDeleteThanks for the summary El Gato . I agree, we had an excellent workout. Let's do it again this Sunday: 8:30 AM to 10 AM. Will have 30 min warm up and drills and 60 min soccer practice. Anybody interested?

Hulk schedule is not out yet
ReplyDeleteHello All,
ReplyDeleteI have received a few emails lately asking about the SASL "fall schedule" about when it will start, etc. Basically, I do not know, that is someone else's area of expertise (the Scheduling Secretary, Mike Schechter). I received the emails because they have been looking for a link on the SASL Website. But since I don't know, hence no link. Mike has been working very hard on it and it is almost ready. Other than that, but apologies, I cannot help anyone with scheduling questions.
If you look towards the very end of http://www.stitchgifts.com/sasl/saslschedule10-11.htm, it says, "Text Box: FALL SEASON STARTS August 21st, 2011."
A lot of you have been asking me this question over the last few weeks and the answer has been there all the time. As for the specifics and other details... I simply do not know, you will have to ask Mike (managers only, PLEASE!). Apologies for the unhelpful answer.
Cheers,
- Garry Archer (SASL Executive Board)
