A double header night allowed Madison to get even more of their ring rustiness wiped off. A great battling performance against the Guilford Black Eagles was followed up by another strong performance against Guilford Bell Curve. In the first game against the Eagles, Madison passed accurately, tackled hard and kept possession well against strong opposition. The Celts took a 3-2 lead in the game and looked to be heading towards a famous win. But, as bad luck would have it, they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by losing a late goal. El Gato was blameless for the late equalizer in yet another fantastic outing by the agile shot stopper. This game was probably the best game the Celts had played in indoor this year and they carried that form into the next game of the night against Guilford Bell Curve. Having got themselves into a strong position with two great gaols by Tano and one by David they let things slip and slumped to a 4-3 defeat. Although this was disappointing it could be blamed on tiredness and not for any lack of ambition or application by the team.
Next game is at 8pm against?? Don't know but I will find out!
that was our third game against the Eagles this year.... scores have been 8-4, 7-5 to them and now 3-3!
ReplyDeletewe need to organize another team meeting soon to get ready for the new outdoor season.
ReplyDeleteRoniildo and I attended the SASL AGM this morning and there is a lot of stuff to catch up on including the shock news that the 2010/2011 season has been extended to the end of November! This will mean the season will have possibly 27 games! More to come on the AGM in an upcoming report.
Dates for the Madison Celtic AGM?
our first game of the outdoor season is currently planned for the 10th April at home against Wallingford Morelia. That is only a few short weeks away! El Gato will need to check with the town to see how the Exchange field has fared during the Winter.
ReplyDeleteHi johnaldo, nice uplifting match report on Thursday's double header with Guilford. I agree that we played some real solid football, and looks like we are whetting our appetite for the upcoming (extended) season. Personally I am thrilled about the extra games, as it gives us more chances to win it
ReplyDeleteJohnaldo, we could try and couple our own AGM after a Thursday march, since week days are sometimes tuff for a some of the guys?
ReplyDeleteI'm in for Thursday at 8PM.
ReplyDeleteI'm also available for a mad Celts AGM whenever all the calendars cooperate.
I'll second Roniildo's comment... we need more outdoor games to make up ground on those at teh top of the table so we put ourselves in our rightful place.
Roniildo Thursday is an idea or maybe a Friday if we can coax Jodingo!! out
ReplyDeleteBOR How is the shoulder? looks like you fell on it again
ReplyDeletetpink Liverpool 3 Man Utd 1 some result!!
ReplyDeleteThe shoulder is fine... just a scare. No worries.
ReplyDeleteI am already on it with the town regarding the field conditions. I am all for any AGM meeting any day of the week from March 14 on. Weekends are as usual shot till April.
ReplyDeleteBoys!! Good News.
ReplyDeleteThis Friday I was playing with Jim group, and I was ran at same speed as Carlos. I didn't feel tired, but I still need 4 more pound of lipids to lose. I will do gradually on March and April. Also I notice that my legs doesn't need that efforts, as last Year, to get high speed on my sprints. So two things makes me feel like I'm in 30's again, one is my weight loss and the other one is....
On Saturday afternoon the test was positive so my wife is pregnant.(another one?.. yes, and the last one for me)
May be the result of lot of snow and, same boring programs on TV?, I guess so, lol.
I know I'have the same question on my mind when that little one start High School I probably join the team of over 60's. I hope I conserve like Pierce Brosnan do. But my Grampa Has the 13 son at 51 so is in the family genes.
See you Thursday. Cheers
Congrats Tano!
ReplyDeleteJohnaldo, Roniildo, I'd like to attend a team meeting....next week is better than this week though.
congratulations Tano!!
ReplyDeleteRoniildo, Jodingo!! etc etc etc how about Friday 18th? Day after St Paddy's Day for a get together AGM? If the bars are toombusy we can meet at my place. I will order in some pizza and i have some beers?
ReplyDeletecan someone confirm who we are playing on Thursday?....they haven't updated the website.... i think i saw 8pm as the kick off time but we may need to confirm that too
ReplyDeleteJohnaldo, 18th works for me. Having the meeting at your house might be too conducive for having a discussion where we can actually hear each other! Is the purpose of the meeting to a.) socialize and drink b.) organize for the upcoming outdoor season or c.) watch futbol clips, drink and tell tales of past on-field heroics??
ReplyDeleteJodngo!! All of the above!
ReplyDeleteI playing on Fridays night with Carlos and Jim Group. Sorry John.
ReplyDeleteThis year I'll be more concentrate on play very hard and try to give you better results as a player.
For the beer organizer matter, I like to give that responsability to Bruce Hulk, if he is agree. Since that last year, He was the best beer provider, plus his strong personality will help to make it right.
I like this year to help on organize a practice day and get our team in better performance, if we want to go up on divisions. But if I don't get to much players assistance (like the last year just 2 or 3 guys showed) I just go on Sundays games and do my best, that's all.
Thank you Johnaldo, and Jodingo.
Congrats Tano....
ReplyDeleteI can do March 18th its good for me.
The schedule should be up tomorrow afternoon.
ReplyDeleteOn the website I mean....
ReplyDeleteBy the way Town Campus would not be available for Spring. In addition the exchange field would not be available after 12pm. That means the 9am game has to be changed to 8 am and 11 am to 10.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the updates El Gato
ReplyDeleteEl Gato: Thank you .
ReplyDeleteAnyone else ok for Friday 18th?
ReplyDeleteArselona are out of the BIg Cup!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can try this new 'challenge' if we get bogged down in administrative discussions at our AGM on the 18th.

ReplyDeletethat web site is still not updated so i have no idea who we are playing tomorrow night .... i think it is at 8pm but can't be sure
We play at 8pm (field 4) vs. southeast Xara
ReplyDeleteSee you there at 7:45pm
John... on Thursday 3/24/11 we don't have indoor game.
ReplyDeleteCan we do that day the team meeting?
Tano...Good idea, that may work best. 18th or 24th...either are good.
ReplyDeleteim in NJ most of the week so Thursday nights can be difficult.... i usually get to the field straight off a plane.... but if more can make 24th thats fine....we would have to find a pub for that night
ReplyDeletemay not make it tonight cause my plane has cancelled due to bad weather.....if train runs on time will get to New Haven by 7.20
ReplyDelete"HAS BEEN A YEAR"
ReplyDeleteOf playing with Madison Celtic and I didn't miss a single game.
And thank you John, because this blog let us remember any details of how we did it, good or bad, happy or sad, but the most important balance, is the times that we have fun cultivating friendship and teammate.
Thank you ALL.
So see you tonight, one more time, and keep my perfect attendance.
BTW: Guilford Hawks is recruiting players, they ask me to come back since Chris is not more in the team, but you know my answer.
How we doing with our roster for this year, do we have any new one?
Happy one year Anniversary Tano! I hope the Guilford Hawks have a good contract for you.... those lowewer league teams sometimes capture good players on inflated deals....Beckham/LA Galaxy, Pele/Cosmos etc
ReplyDeletethe only new player we will have is Altigan but he is not registered yet.....
ReplyDelete....Johnaldo, i can't make the 18th. erin and i are going to a tournament in VA that day. hope the train is on time tonight
ReplyDeletecongrats Tano...your are brave man!!!!
see you @ 8:00 tonight.
ReplyDeleteI've been sick for 2 wks so expect even less from me than usual! lol
