Last gasp goal wins it for CeltsIf there is anyone out there who still doubts that this league is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dreams of our players are still alive; who still questions the power of our team, this game is your answer!
A game that should have been won well before the end and was thrillingly claimed in the dying moments of an enthralling encounter against one of our most bitter rivals. I say this without the benefit of actually being at the game but as a conduit of information coming from Jody, Behrooz and Jacques. A very strong performance against a stubborn Clinton team was accentuated by a season best performance by Roniildo. Marking Enrique out of the game and creating many great opportunities throughout the game were the hallmarks of success for Ronnie in a performance that clearly frustrated our ex player to distraction. Roniildo was not the only great performance during the game with some great point saving saves from The Cat especially near the end of injury time. However, it may be no surprise to hear that the goal that won the game for the Celts came from a great move down the left when RoRo was released by Fribeca. He stormed into the opposition penalty box, as he has done so many times this season, before delivering a great shot from an impossible angle that slammed deep into the Clinton net. A crushing moment for them and another great goal from a great player!
And with only two games left in the league I think about all that we have seen throughout this years campaign, the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can't, and the team who pressed on with that great sporting creed:
Yes, we can!
I read it fresh from the press last night. You definitively have a future in the commentator box when you retire from the game. It was well written from somebody who didn't see the game. Do you have webcam hooked to the ball??
ReplyDeleteGood match reporting and blog.....good to hear that you are back.....It was a thrilling match against Clinton.....hope your mom is doing O.K.....and enjoyed the Celtic-MU match. Did you have a chance of getting a video of the match a little bit?
ReplyDeletethe game was really exciting and the atmosphere was fantastic...no video but i did take some photos.. a bit blurry because the whole stadium was bouncing up and down!
ReplyDeleteI watched the match. It was great. And a fair result, as ManU were doing well for periods and Celtic earned their goal as well.

ReplyDeletei know it's too early for the Clinton result to go on the league web site but i've noticed that our scores from the Trumbull and HK games have not yet been updated. Is that George's job? or is the job of the team we play away from home?
ReplyDeleteI have emailed the league about updating the website and so far there is no response yet. I know George is busy but he hasn't updated the website for the more than 2 weeks. I have copied my email to the president of the league too....and I am waiting for an answer
ReplyDeleteThis Sunday we have a game against Milford and this is a Home Game for us at Exchange field by the Madison Surf Club. This is our last Home game of Fall season. Please come through the Surf Club that we can all park at the top parking area.
ReplyDeletePlease be there at 9:30 am.....after the game, we will all going to the Chip's pub in Clinton or Guilford for some happy hour. Please let me know, if you have a better suggestion about the place but it has to be close ....please plan for it
