Atlantic Rovers Tour 2011 (Part 1!)

Well as long as we are having a bit of a snow break to our season I thought I might give you the first of the Atlantic Rovers Tour reports!;

Another year another tour! The Atlantic Rovers were back in action this September in the Elgin Marbles Invitation 7 a side Tournament in Lossiemouth, Scotland. Last year a brave contingent of four Madison Celtic players headed out to represent the US of A and this year the same four plus the great addition of El Gato made their way across the Atlantic for beer, pies and pals!

BOR headed up from Texas and met Roniildo, Jodingo!! and myself at Newark where we had the first of many beers that would be sunk during the trip. We met up with El Gato in Glasgow after his trip up from London and we set off on our road trip to Hopeman. Of course we had to stop at McKays bar in Pitlochry for a steak pie and beer lunch ( it's a tradition now! ). On the way we picked up Tam, our new player for the Atlantic Rovers before arriving in Hopeman later that afternoon in glorious sunshine. After a short break we headed to the Braemou for the evening reception and a fantastic night of chatting, bag piping and of course eating and drinking! A great prep for the next days event which was the 7 a side tournament! But before that we had the traditional massive breakfast of eggs ( two for Tam) , sausages, bacon, beans, toast and a heathy orange juice. After that we headed for our pre-season tour of the Hopeman harbor and talked about our tactics for the tournament to come! That worked......

  6. Driving to work this morning from North Madison all the way to Wethersfield (including Wethersfield), all stores, gas stations were closed and without power. Even the traffic lights were off. Ghost towns worst than the Hurricane we had two months ago. Our office generator didn't work had to come home. What a day so far...

  7. Good report and excellent pictures Johnaldo, also did you notice that one of those pics may appear as an album cover of a reminiscent from rock band of the 70's.

    El Gato... mother nature give us preview advice about what do we have to be prepare of it.
    We have a lot of comforts but a lot of vulnerabilities.

  8. Tano second last one? Crosby Stills and Nash? Average White Band? Earth Wind and Fire? I know who the wind is.....

  9. I like that picture. I almost got knocked off the wall by the wind.... Then I guess I am the wind...
    But I like Crosby stills and Nash better..

  10. The storm was a non-event in Waterford....an inch of snow that melted away by mid-morning Sunday, and no loss of power. Here at work, at NU's headquarters in Berlin, it's a different story....no traffic lights, which makes for some aggravating driving, and nearly everyone without power.

  15. Yay, I have power again! The road by my house looked like the Ardennes forest after the battle of the bulge... Unbelievable. I lost 3/3 flowering pear trees and 3/6 apples I planted 6 years ago. Fu$&k. I can probably play this weekend in at least one game. Il Bambino

    Try to get a 120 pound Chinese masseuse, whit a happy ending, and you will feel much better, the only secundary effect that you'll probably get is an addiction of the tightness in your spotted D. :P

  21. Jorge just told me that Carlos got his nose broken in that game against Guilford. I just talked to him and he is doing well but his nose is broken in three places! Says he wants to get back playing before the end of the season!

  22. Hamden have confirmed they will NOT play us on Saturday..... this is frustrating but they say they can only get 10 players. Not sure what we are going to do now because they keep giving us options that don't work for us

  28. Johny,

    Hamden should forfeit since they keep changing and now shows....you should report to the league if they can field a team.
