PLAYER FOCUS on..... Dejan...The Big D!

Time for another player focus and under the glare of the interview lights this time is our very own Big D.... Dejan! His calm presence on the field underplays his passion for the game off the field. He has shown to be an astute observer of the game and can point out where we are all going wrong ...........yes, that's right, he spends a lot of time pointing at me! He has a huge following throughout the World as we saw when he won the midfielder of the season poll by a record count when 99.9% of the votes came from Germany.....the other vote came from him!
But what do we need to know about the real Big D that we don't know already, like.... what does big D stand for? Why does he like coordinating substitutes? Has he ever met Gerd Mueller? Read on, and all will be revealed!

First time you played soccer?
Organized soccer @ 10 years old/Bayern Munich youth team ( When did the disorganized soccer start?.... no wait, don't tell me.... i know)

Favorite Team?
Red Star Belgrade/Arsenal ( Up the Arse! )

Fav Player?
Bogie ( Vladislav Bogicevic - Red Star/NY Cosmos) ( No player, no person should ever be called Bogie..... in Scotland Bogie means Booger! )

Fav Music?
Depends on the situation.......Beatles....Jump by House of Pain ( What situation would ever involve you liking House of Pain??? )

Fav Movie?
Something New/Lord of the Rings ( ah yes, Something New....While some of the dialogue is a little preachy, for the most part “Something New” avoids taking sides and instead lets the romantic relationship play itself out in an honest fashion. This is a date movie with a moral but one that doesn’t knock you senseless trying to make the message stick.....doncha think?.... Do you like Twilight too?? )

Best moment on a soccer field?
Each time I make something difficult look easy :) (that's funny because me and El Gato do the exact opposite!)

Nickname at school?
College....Big D ( I won't ask why...... )

Motto for life?
Don't let them see you sweat :) ( or cry..... crying is much worse.....)

Something we don't know about you?
Dabble in many things/notice more than just the obvious:) ( that sounds serial killer creepy Big D )

Most famous person I've met?
Gerd Mueller ( is it true he is only 4ft 3 inches tall? )

Thanks Big D! I will post a German translation of this for your chums over the Atlantic!

  2. Time for the Dutch to take center stage...but its looks like Brasil is quietly marching to another cup.

  3. Tom P... Brasil have been in first or second gear so far... now is the time to see if they can go up another couple! Holland may cause some problems for them...Although i think the Dutch defence is a bit suspect....

  9. happy bday Fribeka.....fantastic result this morning, although the chances the orange created and didn't take towards the end were unreal to say the least...Kuyt's great run, and then he forgot to toe poke the ball....bet you Jorge would have scored that one!!

Enrique, if you're out there, comiserations my friend...it's a funny game!

Can't wait for tomorrow morning's clash. If Messi & co can control their emotions and remain composed (unlike Brazil today) could be a close one, but still sticking with Argentina.

    Have a great weekend everone.

Awesome player focus (Big D) and johnaldo...

  11. If Uruguay Wins the WC, is the end of the World Cup? or the end of the World in 2012?
    Spooky ha?.
Because they won only one at the first W.C. event in 1930, and now will be this the last one?
Go Orange Save the world. :o)

    Happy btdy. Jack
    and congrat. Holland & Uruguay

  12. wow..... Brazil are out and Paraguay are still in!!! what's happening? I thought L'Orange deserved their win after their second half performance..... Brazil never did get out of second gear. Ghana had their chances..... a really big chance from 12 yards out!

  20. TANO.... sorry man.... that was a beating though.... they were unstoppable...Sweinsteiger was just incredible.... he was everywhere.

Who said the Europeans were in trouble? Could end up with 3 of them in the semis!

    Spain up next!

....why do we have to wait another 4 years for this?

  21. Maradona get an overdose of goals.
He burned Messi with that strategy.
And like I said anyone can coach better than Maradona.
He made subs to late, 25 minutes in 2nd. half? come on.
Samuel should be there he is a wall.
The sad thing of this is that Messi (0 goals) looks like another bluff now like Christiano Ronaldo (just one dummy goal).
The good news is I don't have to play naked now Johnaldo, I keep my decency intact.
    See you in 2014.
Al list Brazil and England are out too.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Johnaldo did you talk to Messi and said to him: "you will score today Lio?"

    ReplyDelete
  23. The Argentinan Radios said this:
Mick Jagger is the luck stone becasue
He was first for USA and then for England now for Argentina.
    WHAT A STONE.

    ReplyDelete
  24. tano.... sorry... i txted him this morning to say "score one for the team" .... a bad move by me

    ReplyDelete
  25. I here Jagger is supporting Holland next ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  26. tano... ok, so Spain or Paraguay? Europeans to kick out all the South Americans?

    ReplyDelete
  27. snnnnnooooooooooze fest....... come on someone do something!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Johnaldo-hope you enjoyed the second half of the Spain-Paraguay game! You sounded like you were sleeping through it!

    Have a great day all!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi Annie.... yes second half was a lot better.... although the ref started to get in the way of a good game... 4 teams left and 3 of them Europeans! they were not really in trouble at all.

Hope you all have a nice day celebrating your Independance from us Brits.....

    Not too many burgers now....

    ReplyDelete
  30. Definitely not good when the ref has the most impact on the field during a game.....in any sport!

We will celebrate the way us Americans celebrate everything....by eating and drinking too much! ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Go Oranje!! Crush Uruguay!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jodingo!! yes, i hoping for a Holland VS Germany.... or Spain

    ReplyDelete
  33. This is bad...You also wanted Argentina, as did Mickey, and we all know how that turned out. You two please suppport Uruguay!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Mick Jagger is now a big supporter of The Oranje! you would be a fool to cry!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Don't start me up....

    ReplyDelete
  36. yes, it was my biggest mistake

    ReplyDelete
  37. Gimmee shelter from those wild horses that will run all over Uruguay!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nervous Jodingo!! ??

    ReplyDelete
  39. Johnaldo! Johnaldo! johnaldo!! Are you a believer now????!?!

    GOOOOOOO OOOORRRRRAAAAANNNNNJJJJJJEEEEEEE!

p.s. from now on, I do not care if they win it all or not because I just know that it will be a beautiful/fantastic Final to watch given that either Germany or Spain will make it! Of course, I rather Spain!

    ReplyDelete
  40. great victory for the Orange people!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. So it's going to be an all European final after all! Glad Holland are through and i don't care who they play in the final.... although the game tomorrow will be an interesting one!

    ReplyDelete
  42. ...at least Mick Jagger finally picked a winner!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Holland deserve a at least one world cup
    also Spain.
I wish the final be Spain vs Holland and some one win by penalties kicks.
Uruguay was a close and the 2cnd goal was offside.
IN resume from this Wc bad referees and Germany is the best organizated league for new generation of players.
No more WC soccer stars like Zidane, Ronaldo(brazilian)Matthaus, Platini, Maradona or Pele

    ReplyDelete
  44. TANO i agree.... when i was a kid the World Cup was all about names like Pele, Rivelino,Eusabio and Jairzinho! Then Cruyff and Beckenbauer. Then Maradonna.....

Messi did not do it this World cup.... cannot be seen as a great until he does.... and no single player stands out as the WOW factor player this time....
