NEXT GAME; Sunday 24th June, Greenwich Arsenal

Our last game of the Spring season will be this Sunday with an away match to Greenwich Arsenal. This game has an 11am kick off and will be played at GHS stadium in Greenwich. The directions to the field are here;  This is an artificial turf field!

GREENWICH HIGH SCHOOL
10 Hillside Road, Greenwich, CT 06830

(Nike® Artificial Turf field approved for SASL games):

I-95 South to Exit 4 Indian Field Road.  Turn right onto Indian Field Road.  At the first traffic lights turn left onto East Putnam Avenue/Route 1.  Take the second right onto Hillside Road.  Greenwich High School is immediately on the left.

I-95 North to Exit 4 Indian Field Road.  Turn left onto Indian Field Road.  Continue as above.

Teams should note that NO ALCOHOL is allowed on school grounds!

Whatever the result on Sunday, the Celts can congratulate themselves  for what has been a very decent start to the season. With 12 points in the bag the Celts have created a bit of a buffer with the bottom two teams and are still in the running for a top 4 finish! Arsenal are currently in 7th position with 6 points having played 7 games, winning 2 and losing 5. They have beaten Fairfield and Guilford at home but have struggled against the top 4 teams. This will be another tough game but if we play to our strengths, most notably to the fore in the last two games, we may be able to finish the first half of the season in style!

  20. Tano, I'd be interested in some scrimmages durinf the 7 week summer break from SASL. All 3 teams seem reasonable to approach from my view. Let's hear what the others think?

  21. Bell Curve forfeited to Vasco, so they have won all 9 matches in season part 1...impressiv. I assume orange will beat the fairfield GAC tomorrow, so wee need a hungry squad to win our match and not loose any ground...let's bring it tomorrow boys.....

  22. Good luck gentlemen tomorrow and I know you can pull it off the great squad we have. Sorry can not make it but you all are in my dreams. In a good way :-)..... See you in a scrimmage or start of fall season in August in a better shape and health.

Don't forget they are shifting traffic on Q bridge to the new one so traffic would be heavy on the bridge this weekend. Started Friday night and will go till Monday morning and most ramps from I-95 to I-91 or visa versatile will be closed and detoured.....

  24. Only comments when we win...?
Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
    Albert E.

And we know why we lose.
What I did wrong? I was played like many games that I didn't score I was looking for the pass far from the mid instead to stay little be back and came with the mid ( John B and Carlos mention that to me)
We lose the concentration since that referee start to be the protagonist of the game.
We play to shoot the ball far away and try to find me in the box but I was always around 3 guys so that was to give away the ball.
We play much better with Carlos on left back because he build it the attack and help the mid on going little be fwd. and you notice how our midfielders run back and fwd to try to posses the ball and the ball was always on the air, And Carlos run randomly around the field trying to save us. All that thing was visible in time, but hard to correct. Why?... because the guy who is in charge have to listen the wining noises all the time about sub this or that, plus adding the complains to the referee.
John B. is a good helper of John H. to organize inside (we miss you Benchi).
Edgimar and Carlos is good assets on back so we never have to move you from there.
We will get a solid sub Goalkeeper soon to help you Hulk when You have some injure, because this game You deserve to be at home and no play like that(sore ribs).
I believe we pay the price in this 1/2 season for move players around. But we getting close to have the solid formation and try to keep like that for now on.
Vasco Da Gama is obvious the champ of this season but Pumas are just 8 points of us we are in the 5 th. place just two 2 point down of Orange.
Don't hesitate to give us your opinion we positive reflections and off course respect.

  26. tano yes less commentary after a tough defeat... losing the goal with five minutes left in the game was a tough one to take. i think we should have stuck to the defensive line up we have been using for the previous two games....carlos would have exploited a huge amount of space up the left wing..... lesson learned!

  28. certainly took the wind out of my sail on Sunday, but bottom line is we are building an excellent team, and with a few lessons learned as noted from Tano and Johnaldo, we are in good shape for the rematches against all the teams in the league....

  29. blog is silent...hope everyone is OK, and looking forward to July 4th
break....thought Rugginho would have been on to celebrate Italy's Goliath win yesterday. Super Mario's 2nd goal was hit almost as hard as Edimar's shots......take care!

  30. I know Roniildo very busy people or not much to write on it.
I'm sore yesterday I was in Indian River from 6:15pm to 9:15 pm after scrimmage game with a lot of people (8pm) I did 90 shots to the goal practice accurate and power free kicks. From our team I saw Paulo Edimar and John B.
    Today sauna and Pilates.
I wonder how many do for himself to get better for the team.

Tom A. You said that on Wednesday is a practice, is that in Calvin L.?
