MATCH REPORT; Fairfield 0 Madison 1

The Celts bounced back into winning territory at the weekend scalping three points off their fellow hoop wearers, Fairfield. A hard fought  and competitive match saw Madison play their best soccer of the new season with a solid defensive display allied with assertive midfield tackling and inventive attacking play. Celtic had strong players all over the field with Goggs and Edimar again showing that they are beginning to gel as a potent defensive back line. Of course, the equally impressive and versatile La Boca also showed he had the chops for playing up front in major sections of the game. The midfield pairing of Roniildo and John B ( he has to get a nickname.....) was also a major feature of the overall team performance with strong pressing play and much improved passing. Up front Edison and Tano had a great game together with some good attempts at goal.
Madison were up for the game right from the start with John B setting the tone with some early shots on goal. Some great crosses into the box were also allowing Edison and Tano to create some havoc in the opposition goal. Of course Fairfield were not just sitting there taking this and mounted some impressive attacks of their own but the defensive line of Madison proved up to the task. Even when that back line was breached the Hulk was there to make the save. He made quite a few through the game none more important than his fearless, potentially  injury inducing save in the last minutes of the game to save the three points and earn him a well deserved clean sheet. But prior to that frantic end the Celts had some work to do to earn the points. The major turning point of the game was when the Celts won a free kick at the edge of the opposition box. Edimar stepped up and sent in a beautiful arcing ball straight past the goalie and into a bulging net. A well deserved goal and a great example of the new scoring capabilities the team has. Madison swept through the first half and through significant chunks of the second as the clearly stronger team although they had to remain on guard for any defensive slip ups. As the second half wore on they did start to defend further and further back allowing the home team to edge closer and closer to an equalizer. But the Celts held on right to that epic Hulk save in the last minute! A great win and the Celts will at least be competitive in this league.

Man Of The Match; some really superb performances all through the team from a newly assertive Roniildo, a "Gattuso" style performance by John B and a giant display by Goggs at the back. But for yet another flawless defensive performance combined with a truly superb goal the MOM goes to Edimar!

And I like to play in mid and let me free to go fwd.in association with Benchy Roniildo TomaA. and Danny. We made a compact team and that was very good, I like it. Any one notice?

    1. Yes you do, I'm Happy to see you run again, and I like that you encourage the team as a Jorge too, showing to the youngest, that you Gents have guts.
I will help all lines this year to give back a great full 2011 season, and VICTORY will be the result of play as a TEAM.

  4. The passing was much better and even though we had some breakdowns, all in all much better. Ronnie and I are startling to find each other in the middle and the outside middies are starting to play wide and help build. The forwards made some great runs giving us the right final passes which gave us three times the opportunities we have had in the past. I think we will be able compete with anyone using this game plan as it will only get better with confidence.

As JB points out, a lot of good signs that we're on the right track....see everyone week after next, and be nice to your mothers on Sunday

    1. I wish Paulo you get 100% better, and I can play in any position so don't worry. Next game, I will play with a pedometer to give you an idea of how much you have to run when you start in my position. Did you want my number too? :) Get well and ready to score. Cheers.

Nope, You told Roniildo that we can use his old pass, but when I spoke this morning with Edmilson he said he lost the old one so can Jody stop by the Restaurant The Cuckoo's Nest if he have blue pass and make him sign he work on Sunday. When is the last day that we can sign up him and be able to play on 20Th.?

KUN AGÃœERO will be the Hero forever for the City history.
Was funny the see the faces of ManU players in the other stadium, they can't believe it.

  18. TANO I know..... that finish to the league was the best I've seen.....so exciting, 2-1 down in injury time! As a Celtic fan i know exactly how it feels to win and lose the title in the last minute of the season......but the roller coaster of emotions those City fans went through in the last 4 minutes must have been unique..... well deserved, even though i prefer Utd.... but they have had a lot of success over the recent years

  19. Johnaldo... in my life a watched soccer for over 40 years and many many finals, for all over the world, but no one like this one.And you right I saw those fans crying for deception and turn that emotion on happiness in less of four minutes.
