This Sunday we have a really big game. We are at home against league leaders Orange. We have played them 3 times already this season with a record of one win, one draw and one loss. Of course the one loss was a painful one.... a 6-2 well deserved humping.Match Report here;

That game was a total disaster in terms of our lack of grit and determination, lack of cohesion and pride. Basically we gave up. I'm not sure if we had fought harder we could have won or even gained a point but i know we would not have been beaten by such a wide margin.
Well this weekend we have a chance to gain some pride back. Orange sit 9 points ahead of us in the league and if we ever wanted to claw them back into a championship dog fight this will be the only chance we get.
Let's turn up ready to play.... let's not lose a couple of goals in the first ten minutes like we seem to do every game...and let's play to our best abilities!

ReplyDeleteon Sunday we should try to play the formation we started against North Branford ( yeah that worked well.......) the idea was to have the four at the back with a defensive midfielder right in the hole in front of them.... didnt really work last Sunday but it can work!

Johnaldo, I agree that we need to have one or two defense-minded midfielders in front of the back line at ALL times against Orange. And, you're right, we can't give away goals by fouling them anywhere near the box.
ReplyDeleteThe other HUGE mistake we made last time was allowing their keeper to kick the ball over our heads. And also letting the ball bounce before attempting to get it. The key for the defense against the long kicks is to get to the ball in the air.

ReplyDeleteWe need to have a very strong defense against Orange. Their forwards are very quick and we can't afford to be slow or sluggish against their Offense. Last time they scored 4 quick goals due to many defensive mistakes and hope we won't repeat it this time. So we need 4 best defenders in the back (3 with 1 stopper) and possbily need to have Safet to play in the back......and defensive midfielders in front our defense to help shutting down their offense. Our midfield will have a bigger job of supporting our defense at all the time and feeding our forwards without creating any gaps in middle of field....let's hope

Guys we have a big squad for Sunday so no arguing! 17 players so far and we still have to hear from David and La Boca! Goggs is out though. This is a big game and we need to make sure we give a good account of ourselves
ReplyDeleteThat means coming off to rest ( even if you are the best player in the World! ). We had a large squad the last time we played Orange and were abysmal.... no one got pass marks...let's do better this time!

Remember! For next weeks away game to the Albanian Eagles we have Roniildo, Jodingo!!, Johnaldo and El Gato out....so there should be plenty positions to fill...i hope our large squad is avialable then beacuse that will be a really tough game too!
