NEXT GAME; Sunday 26th June, Guilford!

I can't believe this part of the season is nearly over, but it is. The last game of the Spring/Summer section of the season finishes this Sunday with a game against hot rivals Guilford Bell Curve at Calvin Leete's School, 10 am kick off.

Even though we have played a few teams three times already we have only played Guilford once so far. Match report is here;

http://madisonceltic.blogspot.com/2010/09/match-report-madison-0-guilford-bc-0.html

It was a dour 0 0 game and the one this weekend could be the same or a goal extravaganza. They have the best defensive record in the league and we have the second best attacking record!
We sit in second place in the league on 34 points, 4 ahead of Guilford who have played 3 game less. Bottom line is that we have to win this one. Let's go in and be confident, tight at the back and remember the basics!

Remember the 3 P's!!!!!

I won't be there so we will need some organized planning by Roniildo!

The team has to be there to warm up at least twenty minutes before the game starts!

Oh, and don't forget the Hulk is watching you!

  6. this will be our 18 game of the season on Sunday. If we compare the first 9 games of the season to the last 8 we have done very well.

First 9 played in the Fall, we won 3, drew 6 and lost 0 gaining 15 points. In the Spring/summer season we have played 8 so far, winning 6 drawing 1 and losing 1 gaining 19 points! let's make that 22 points by midday on Sunday!

  18. The KEY to WIN:
Tomorrow when Carlos will dribble the ball by the sides, what we need to do is running to the box (Jorge, Halil, Roniildo, Safet or me ) all 5 in the box, and we don't give any excuses from Carlos to pass it, then if he lose it, at least 3 have to come back quickly and the other one advice him about what we do is as a team.
Def, please open to the side lines don't look for center mid players.
Goalkeeper, try to fake that you will make a long range kick but look for the side def or midds. Push your def out of the box, all the time, that is your home and you don't want any one there, keep them out.( why we don't use the outside rule for benefits?)
And wings don't make long passes, if you want to cross over the other side use your close center mid and advice to keep crossing. Avoid divided passes, when is a chance that the other team can win that ball. Play safe passes.
In general to have ball possession don't dribble where the Guilford players are, if you don't have space or pass to the front come back to your support def.
When they posses the ball make small field, means to get close together, double team all time over the guy who caring the ball(one for the front and one for behind.
Don't give them time to think, quick pressure all the time. But when we have the ball, we play open using all the field, play relax and two touch ball and pass, one for control and the next for passing, and for that You have to think all the time in the game and concentrate in this: "if I'm receiving the ball now, my chance to pass are..."
We need to use our brain and play smart.
Fake the pass at first, if some one cover your chances, advice each other for possible pressure, have memorize the guys that you have around, that avoid to call each others (that bothers a lot and makes us nervous and confused)
If they attacking, think what chance of passing they have and cover them, don't just run to the ball, watch the game intelligently.
I keep this on mind to myself, help me to pass it on, and read twice.
and the most important have fun playing as cat play with the mouse.
I'm talking seriously, so jokers? no comments, please.
    Thanks.

Roniildo...If I make a copy can you read tomorow?, before the game, for those guys who never read the blog.

  24. Hey Bhoys,
I'm sorry to say that the oceans did not cooperate with me this weekend - my Charter fishing trip was moved to Sunday from Sat. due to the seas being too nasty today. As a result, you'll have to kick Guildofd's butt without me. One last thing - PLEASE play the ball to poor Fribeka. He stood pathetically alone in TONS of space for long stretches in the last game. Use both sides of the pitch!

Good luck, I'll bring back a shark for you.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hello ? Hello? Anyone out there? It's now.Monday! You can forget the result

    ReplyDelete
  34. We play very well with unlucky result.
The Final score 0-3 didn't reflect at all what we did in the field. Ball possession was 70% for us.
Chances to score a goal that mostly we do? 6
    From many players including me.
They rich our area like 4 or 5 times in the whole game. And everybody play well.
    That is the frustrated part.
I believe Sunday we lose our chance to be Champs this Year and probably to get to 2nd. div too.
After drink was talking about getting together once time a week and practice (I hope they do).
Roniildo and Ruggero did it great in organize the subing and the make good when they put Safet in the center mid.
Mosquitoes was an issue I was the first to arrive at the field but I have to run from there to get some repellent.
I ask Ruggero if he get some pics but he said game was so intense that he can't have a chance to take it.
Carlitos was out by 15 min of the 2nd. half with an injury.
And for the men of the match I like to mention Safet and Jack both did good but I wait for a second opinion fro the guys who watch the game from the side line.

  35. Any ways for me was a great day after River plate(Argentinian Team) descending to 2nd. div. (first time in 110 years) and the are the archrival of my team Boca Juniors.
Johnaldo.. is like for you, Rangers going to 2nd div.

  36. Hulk and fishing crew, I found out last night that my two nephews from North Carolina will be visiting me the weekend of the 9th, so I can't make the fishing trip. I'm sorry if this is a problem, but as the host to these guys I can't leave for most of the day on that Saturday.

  38. Re. the game: A very disappointing game to say the least. To have been in control of the game most of time, and to have a result that appears to be a humping is down right depressing.

Hulk, Thank you for the great beer selction. You ought to take yourself out of the "beer wench" mix in the fall, since you've supplied too many times this season.

  39. Hulk, If you can't fill my slot, I'm good the dough.

  41. Hey Ron,
Yes, specific trip for sharks - we went 20 miles or so east of Montauk hoping for a nice tasty Mako or Thresher. We ended up with lots of blue sharks (normal for this time of year, but not good to eat). We caught and released I think 16 Blue sharks, including several in the 6-7 foot, 200 pound+ range. It was a good time. We went with Lucky Hook charters... he has a nice boat - 48 feet with a really wide beam. Only kind of frustrating part was a cruising speed of about 12-14 knots to keep fuel costs down, so it was a long drive out and back. I'd definitely go back to them for another trip out as far as Montauk, the captain was really good and the boat is perfect for fishing if you don't need to go a long way out.
