We need a Winning Attitude!

Our next game is this Thursday against BlackPool. As I mentioned I know nothing about them but all I know is we have to beat them! The last few years of playing indoor have been a glory filled run of stirring victories but not this session.... more a crap filled wasteland of defeats!

But we can still rise and be a team again! Can't we? Yes we can!

Let's turn up this Thursday, 7pm and go for it!! Let's bring back that winning feeling....

  1. I love it.. a crap-filled wasteland... priceless. Also love the picture of Diouf eating crow. Too bad for Rangers that he was the best man on the pitch for them in that game.

Seriously, It's killing me that I can't turn up and help the team in indoor... Surgery went well, they repaired 2 cartilage tears I had in my right knee. No hard activity (running, Soccer) for 3 months.... allows me to ponder a return in early May. Keep up the chins, and go get some goals!

  11. Bambi...sorry to hear you are still out of action but to be honest it will be better for you to be fully recovered for the outdoor season rather than risk indoor..... it would crush your confidence too!

  12. El Gato will be there tonight. Sick as a dog or a cat!!! Lost my voice so don't expect a peep out of me. Someone has to yell for me. Have been out of commission since Tuesday. I'll let you know during the game when its time for me to throw up...

  20. Hello All,

I updated the SASL Website (http://saslsoccer.com) on Friday, February 11th.

    1. Updated 2010-11 SASL Team Managers Contact Information on the Downloads Page -- with updates for Fairfield GAC and Caseus New Haven FC.
    2. Updated Players Wanted -- Madison AFC (Over-30 League) are looking for additional players.
    3. Updated Team Pictures Gallery -- added O'Neill's Fairfield FC (Over-30 League).

Once again, thank you for your continued well-wishes and caring thoughts. Incredibly, I have received over 500 emails about my surgery and recovery from friends and relatives all over the world, so please understand if I do not respond to each one of you! I have read them all and I deeply appreciate every single one of them, they have all helped to pull me through.

The last email I sent to this list to announce an SASL Website update was November 20th, 2010. In that email I said:

"Please, no more pictures or TIS updates for the next 4 months or so, I have not been well for the past few months and I am mentally and physically exhausted and I do not want to be stressed with updating the SASL Website every week, I need time off to try to enjoy the winter break and the holidays and hope I can recover for the second half of the season, or I may have to give up playing The Beautiful Game forever (I am seeing a neurologist on December 9th). Apologies for any inconvenience, but I hope you understand. Wishing you all the best for the holidays."

At the time, I didn't know why I was not feeling well. When I met with the neurosurgeon on December 10th and we were horrified to discover what was in my head, he rushed me into hospital (he tried to get me in the next day!) and operated on that non-cancerous growth on December 17th, which, as he put it, was killing me. If he had not operated when he did I would not be here now.

It has been 8 weeks today since my surgery, and after consulting with all my doctors, they have Okayed me going back to work on Monday. I'll try full days, but will go to half days if it is too much too soon. If I really can't handle it, I will go back to being on short term disability. We'll have to wait and see.

Apologies for the lack of Website updates in the meantime, but I am sure you'll understand. Even this relatively small updated has taken me several hours and I am quite exhausted. Bearing this in mind, please hold off non-urgent update requests (like team pictures and so forth) for a few weeks while I continue to recover and regain my strength.

As for playing football again, I'm nowhere near ready yet, but perhaps by the end of spring. I have to rebuild my fitness first (working out on an elliptical machine at home)! BTW, I lost 20 lbs during my 10-day hospital stay if you're looking for ways to lose weight! Don't worry, as I rebuilt my appetite when I returned home, I have been slowly putting some of it back on! :-)

The SASL Annual General Meeting is on March 5th, and I plan on attending, so I hope to see some of you then!

    Cheers!
    - Garry Archer (SASL Executive Board)
