Yes it's the next big event! Our beach picnic! Well, actually we first have to play a home game against Southington. And we have a proud, undefeated home record stretching back nearly two seasons that we have to protect. Southington are a Div A team that finished third in the league last year. After 17 games they had won 9, lost 5 and tied 3. They played 9 games away from home and won 4, most notably a 6-3 victory against Bridgeport! Having said that Astrit, our ex player who now turns out for Bridgeport, said they only had nine players in that game.....
Bottom line? We are a good team at home and difficult to beat. Our worst enemies are ourselves so lets buckle down, keep focused and win the game that will get our season back on track!
Then we can have a great picnic!
Make sure we all turn up early on Sunday....... and no doubt the comments page below will end up summarizing who is to bring what for the picnic.
Here is the updated menu so far............

Tom J. potato salad and green salad (with tomat. & cucumber)
Danny dogs and burgers including buns
Jody's first lady watching the tables between 9:30-10:30.....thank you ....need a volunteer to guard the tables between 10:30-12:00........we probably need 3 tables and minimum of 2 to 3 grills
I suggest everyone meet at the picnic area around 9:30 to claim and organize tables/grills and drop off stuff prior to the game.
ReplyDeleteI will advise my wife, Lisa, that she has "the duty" until 10:30. If no one shows up to relieve her, she's free to go.
See you all Sunday...the weather looks perfect for playing and socializing!
Lisa just said she'll man the tables until 10:45...if that makes it easier for anyone to 'find' a volunteer....
ReplyDeleteYou probably can not take more than two grills since they are not that close to each other.
ReplyDeleteSince most do not have beach passes (including myself) make sure to tell them at the gate you are here for the game at exchange field and do not mention picnic.
ReplyDeleteand make sure your guests say the same!
ReplyDeleteFinal Menu.....what a list:

The only undecided person is Jacques............
wow….looking forward to it…..are we still playing football as well?
ReplyDeleteWe'd better run our arses off during the game to deserve the spoils of victory!!
ReplyDeleteyes, I've counted up 10 million calories worth of food on the menu
ReplyDeleteI see we have 16 players not counting the 'undecided' one.....so, it makes sense to have him go guard the wooden players....
ReplyDeleteHope now we can really hustle against Southington to beat them fairly to deserve gaining some of the 10 million calories afterward...........
ReplyDeleteI think we found the secret to fielding a full squad......have a picnic every week (especially away games)
ReplyDeleteBuenos dias! Considering the advisory from Behrooz about the competition
ReplyDeletefor th etabels and grills, we should bring lawn/beach chairs.
At the risk of having a very miserable time if my wife does not get
relieved of her guard duties as suggested next, she has "volunteered" to
watch the tables and grills for the first hour from 9:30 to 10:30 ONLY if
someone takes over the guard duties promptly by 10:30. (If we can not find
another volunteer to spell her off of guard duty, I can promise you she/I
won't be very happy. She does not want to get stuck there for 2 1/2 hours
before we show up.) Please let me know that we have someone who, without a
doubt, can take over at 10:30.
Maybe we should have all the WAGs go there with a few six packs/bottles of
ReplyDeletewine.
Then everyone will be happy.
