Friendly Match; Madison Celts 6 Madison Over 30's 0

Madison Celtic had a great warm up for their big relegation decider next Sunday with a friendly against Madison AFC over 30's. On paper the younger ream should have been favourites  but that proved to be very wrong as the Celts ran out 6 0 victors in a game where they could have scored so many more. A strong Celtic team supplemented with a couple of guest players including, star in the making, Erin Knox, The Celts totally dominated the first half with strong defensive play and great midfield passing. The forwards were sharp and it was no surprise that the Celts found themselves 2-0 up fairly early in the game after 2 great goals from Leo. But, the goal of the half was executed from well outside the box when Tano unleashed an unstoppable shot that blew past the goalkeeper. At this point in the game the best players on the field were Erin and the rest of the attacking midfield. Roniildo was struggling to get on the field as he was shouted down every time he tried to substitute his  younger version! The half was rounded off with a 4th from Kevin and a well deserved lead. The second half was no better for the ineffectual Madison AFC team as they continuously lost the ball or were harried off it by the industrious Celtic team. The over 30 team tried hard to get some pride back and on one break they did look as though they were going to score when a great shot was heading into the net before it was clawed onto the bar by the fingernails of the flying Hulk. Super save and really the only chance the younger team had to score. Another two goals were rattled in by Celtic to emphasize their dominance in a superb 6  0 win. All Celtic need is to replicate some of this play in their last league game of the season against Ridgefield Kicks next Sunday

Man of The Match;  In the first half there were lots of great players on the field but Erin edges it for her all round smart passing and positioning. She departed at the end of the first half and the second half was really a master class from the midfield and defense with great tackling and  passing. So my second half mom is shared by Alex and Mike.

  2. Maybe we should move to the over 30 side!

If we put a white swimming cap over Erin head, maybe we can sneak her in during the game for Ronnie!!!

Can anyone pick up Tim and put him in the back seat of their car with a cup of coffee? can't believe that we have the game of the season and we would be without Mike and Tim????
