The New Season is Coming!

Happy Leap Day!

Guys, the new season will start on April 15th with our first game in Division 2 against our old friendly enemies Guilford Bell Curve! It's a nice way to start off a whole new era for Madison Celtic as we take a step up in quality in the new division. April 15th will get here sooner than we think and we may need to plan for some scrimmage games as soon as the weather gets a bit better and the fields open for soccer. We will also be organizing a team get together to celebrate last season and to plan for the new year!

Meanwhile we need to pay our fees for the new season. Each of you needs to pay $90 to Madison Celtic as soon as possible. Roniildo will be reaching out to you for the money. I know some of you hate paying the fee but its unavoidable. We have league and State fees, as well as referee dues to pay. Ninety bucks is not too much to ask for a whole year of soccer and fun. A few less beers during the year, one less haircut ( sorry TomP ), a few less burgers or ice creams and hey presto $90!

Send in your fees ASAP! And watch this space for the night out

  4. Just been to the gym. They’ve got a new machine in, I only used it for half an hour and then I started to feel sick.
It’s great though. It does everything – KitKats, Mars Bars, Snickers, Potato Chips, Coca cola the lot......who said getting fit was tough?

  6. An important reflection for this year to keep on mind, in the field and in your daily routine:

    Dalai Lama
The practice of patience protects us from losing our composure. In doing that it enables us to exercise discernment, even in the heat of difficult situations. It gives us inner space. And within that space we gain a degree of self-control, which allows us to respond to situations in an appropriate and compassionate manner rather than being driven by our anger and irritation.

  7. A summary of why Rangers are where they are today.... from CQN

First, Rangers used an allegedly illegal tax scheme that allowed them to sign players who they otherwise couldn’t afford…..

This tax scheme (EBT) caused Rangers to create ’2nd’ contracts for the players. Otherwise, with no guarantee, the players would not be sure of receiving the additional money…..

These ’2nd’ contracts are now to be (albeit reluctantly) investigated by the SFA…..

    And now…..the 3rd shoe?

A big part of Craig Whyte’s strategy was to ensure that he was at the top of the list of secured creditors. That way, should things go wrong with HMRC, he would likely get his money back. Aside from his pound.

He also tried, it is alleged, to move some of Rangers’ assets on to his own books, again to ensure that no matter what happened, he was covered.

Now…..back in the summer, many were left scratching their heads when it was announced that Whittaker, MacGregor and Davies? all signed FIVE YEAR contracts. It seemed as if Rangers were trying to increase their potential as assets. However, 5 years seemed a bit long. A buying club would pay market rate if a player had 2 years left on a contract. There wouldn’t be a higher price paid just because a player had 4 or 5 years remaining. Value tends to drop when a player gets below 18 months, but it doesn’t tend to increase going the other way.

Could it be, as some might speculate, allegedly, that some of the asset value attributed to these players, is now held by a third party?

If that were the case, trouble wouldn’t be far away.

  8. Guys, you will be receiving paperwork to sign in the mail tomorrow. You need to send it back to me immediately to be eligible to play in any SASL league this year. The SASL PLAYER LIABILITY WAIVER has to a hard copy every year! So, please look out for my letter in the mail tomorrow. I have enclosed instructions.

  9. Hi guys,

I am concerned that few players have mailed me back the necessary paperwork ffor SASL and the fees. What is wrong?

  10. Roniildo, Par for the course. Sorry they're making it difficult. I don't understand why it's so hard to come up with $90 for a year's worth of games.

On a different note, I hope the lack of blogging is due to everyone being consumed by their training regimens!

  11. Jodingo!!..Thanks bro. Immediately following last Saturday's SASL AGM, we understood that SASL Waiver and Liability signed hard copies are mandatory to allow a player to play in any SASL soccer league. We were a little surprised that this rule applied to players that had completed the waiver forms last year, but it was clarified by the SASL executives at the meeting. When I left the meeting, I went to staples, bought envelopes, the Post office for stamps, put the letter together, put the package together, and got the letters in the mail for the postal service PM pick-up. I AM UNCERTAIN ABOUT THE NEXT MOVE. WE ARE ABOLUTELY REQUIRED by SASL EXECUTIVE TO PROVIDE THEM THE MINIMUM OF 15 WAIVER FORMS PLUS a COMPLETED REGISTRATION LIST BY MARCH 15TH. IF WE DO NOT MEET THE DEADLINE, WE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY SASL COMPETITION FOR 2012. I INFORMED AL THE CURRENT PLAYERS OF THE SITUATION IN THE LETTERS I MAILED LAST SATURDAY AFTERNOON. MASSIVE THANKS TO THE GUYS WHO SENT THE PAPERWORK BACK TO ME, BUT AT THIS POINT I DO NOT HAVE THE MINIMUM OF 15 PLAYER INFO TO SEND TO SASL EXECUTIVE. PLEASE LET US KNOW (BY BLOG, EMAIL OR TEXT) IF YOU ARE OUT FOR 2012. IF YOU ARE IN, I NEED THE PAPERWORK BY TUESDAY THE 12TH OF MARCH, IF WE ARE TO MAKE THE MARCH 15TH DEADLINE.

    THANKS GUYS.....
