The well earned point gained by the home side Guilford Celtic, against a stuffy Stamford team, tells you only a small part of the story of this game. The Celts dominated large parts of this match with plenty of good moves and chances coming their way. Marauding runs down the right wing from Eduardo and great link up play by target man Dominic were a feature of the first half. The defense was pretty solid throughout the first 45 minutes and the half ended in stalemate with the feeling that the Celts could win this one. Of course, if you don't take your chances events can overtake you. With 15 minutes gone in the second half the ref made a pretty poor call that seemed to distract the home team. With their heads still focused on the refs error Stamford floated the ball to an unmarked player in the box who had the simplest of tasks of slotting the ball in to the net. A goal against the run of play for sure but the game was in danger of slipping away at this point as Stamford grew in confidence. With time racing on the Celts put 4 up front to try and squeeze out an equalizer and with only a couple of minutes left on the clock an amazing flying header by Johnny I secured the well deserved point!
MAN OF THE MATCH; Lots of good players on the field during the game with strong play by Eduardo in the first half but MOM goes to Johnny I for his point saving heading spectacular! We will never hear the end of it!
