MATCH REPORT; Wilton Wolves 1 Madison Celtic 2

The Madison Celts rounded off a great start to their league campaign with their 6th win of the season. This win also  consolidated  their position in 2nd place and kept them within touching distance of league leaders Newington. By all accounts this was a tough, physical game with numerous yellow cards flashed by the ref. In amongst all of this potential mayhem Dimity stood out with a best in season, two goal performance. His  first  was an ice cold chip over the stranded goalkeeper and the second, a scorching, finger busting shot into the net. Two nothing up at half time the team held on during the second half although the home team got one back though a penalty.

All three points gained has pushed the Celts to 20 points for the first half of the season!

Man Of the Match; Great performances  by David, Alex and Eduardo but the MOM goes to two goal hero Dimitry!

Thanks to Dan for the photos!

NEXT GAME; Sunday 26th June vs Wilton Wolves (A)

So the end of the Spring/Summer section of the season is with us already as we get ready to play Wilton Wolves this Sunday.

 This is an away game at Middlebrook School with a 10am kick off.

The Celts have had a great run recently with  the last 7 games showing up as WWDDWWW, a truly whopping 17 points out of a potential 21! If the Celts win this last game they will only be 3 points off of their total season total from last year!
Wilton are currently sitting 7th in the league with just 7 points but they are coming to this game off of a 3 1 victory against Hamden. So let's not get complacent in this last game!

We need more people to respond yes or no for Sunday. If you haven't replied to Ronnie please do so now!

This is an away game with field directions below;

MIDDLEBROOK SCHOOL:

131 School Road, Wilton, CT
Route 15 (Wilbur Cross / Merritt Parkway) to Exit 41 onto Route 33 North, follow Route 33 North to Route 7 North. MATCH REPORT; Eli's 1 Madison Celtic 2

Another great victory on the road for the the Celts as they pick up another three points and consolidate their position near the top of the table.

By all accounts a hard fought victory in hot conditions was well deserved for the battling Celts. The grass could have done with another cut so the ball was slow in the pass but the Celts controlled the game well, apart from an initial set back when the home team scored first! But Tano equalized and then Ronnie  crashed in a great winner from 20 yards out. The defense were great throughout the game and Dave Slade played very well in midfield with great support by Ronnie and John

The Celts now have 17 points from the first 8 games of the season with only one game left in the Summer season away to Wilton. If they can keep their great from going they will end the first half of the season on 20 points, only 3 points behind their total for the whole of last season!

MAN OF THE MATCH; I wasn't there but according to Ronnie the backs were great and Jim O in particular ( obviously no lunges or rough housing of the opposition forwards must have happened! )
So MOM is going to Jim O!

NEXT GAME; Sunday 19th June vs Eli's (A)

Can the Celts keep their great run of form going against Eli's this weekend? Well they have a big chance to do exactly that as Eli's have had a tough start to the season with only one win in seven games and a 6 2 hammering from Wallingford Morelia last weekend. But the Celts should not be complacent and will need a strong squad to turn out on Father's Day to claim the three points !

This is an away game at Platt Technical School field,  Milford and it is a 10am kick off!

Field Directions below;

PLATT TECHNICAL SCHOOL:
I-95 South to Exit 39B (Mall Exit / Route 1), end of exit ramp take Route 1 North. Move into left lane, at first traffic light (near Burger King) turn left onto Cedarhurst, go to third stop sign and turn right onto Orange Avenue. Platt 1⁄2 mile on left, take first driveway, field is in back near basketball courts behind trees lining baseball field.

MATCH REPORT; Madison Celtic 3 North Branford1

Another superb hard fought victory for the Celts who extended their unbeaten run to six games and moved up to second place in the league table!
A very strong squad turned up for the game on Sunday and hopes were high that Madison would take the game to the visitors right from the get go. And for the most part that's how the first few minutes went with good possession by the Celts  and some early chances but, with their first attack the North Branford team burst into the box and scored!  Not what the home team were expecting but to their credit they buckled down to the task and were soon back ion the attack and were rewarded when an aggressive run by Rob resulted in him upended in the opposition box for a clear penalty. Roniildo handed Tano the ball and he cooly slammed the ball in to the net for a deserved equalizer. After those breathless first ten minutes of the game it settled down in to a pattern of strong Celtic possession and shots on goal. The North Branford visitors were not offering much up in return although they are proving to be a tough team to breakdown. Just when it looked like the half won end tied Dave Slade got the ball on the opposition left and scotched the ball in to the net for the go ahead goal. The second half was marked by an increasingly nippy game with lots of physical tackles and a few digs aimed at both Johnny B and David S. But they kept their cool, for the most part, and got the type of revenge they wanted when a great move resulted in Dave once again on the edge of the box slamming the ball in to the net to take the Celts two goals clear. The roughness of play continued but the Celts held up well and finished the game strongly claiming all three points

Man of the Match; So many great players on the day from the defense all the way through the team. Tim and Jim along with the interchangeable right and left backs kept a great defensive back line. And on the rare occasions when Dustin was called in to action he easily dealt with the attacks. The midfield was strong throughout the game and the attack had plenty of the ball and chances. But yet again David's strong battling performance and game winning goals make him the MOM!
