MATCH REPORT; Waterbury Albanians 4 Madison 2
A real backs to the wall game by all accounts against Waterbury Albanians, a team riding high in the league standings. With a small squad of 12 players it was always going to be a tough ask but the Celts played well and with new player James on board actually had a real attacking edge. A final score of 4 2 doesn't really do justice to the great saves by Dustin that kept the Celts in the game and the superb goals scored by the visitors. The Celts held the home team at 1 1 until they tired but the goals sounded fantastic. James G had a fantastic debut game and scored a goal of the season contender. The other, scored by Tano was a great sweeping move with Ronnie moving the ball to James G who then found Johnny I overlapping down the right wing. He nipped past their left back and crossed a great ball into the box where Tano was on the spot to slam it into the net.
The Celts are so close to being a really good team, just need some luck!
MOM; Great performances by JohnnyI, TomP and James but the MOM goes to Dustin for some superb saves that kept the Celts in the game
PS I wasn't at the game so no pics but i tried to imagine the man of the match Dustin in LEGO style!

Nice report John!
ReplyDeleteHey guys, next week's opponents (Wallingford Morelia at the bottom of the table) almost pinched a point from league leaders Albanian Eagles, so next week's game could be very competitive as well...the league is heating up- just like the BPL HAHA
Thanks for the report John!
ReplyDeleteI like the picture too lol
I feel well connected with James G.and I hope we continue that way.
And thanks Ronnie for pointing at the beginning to stop calling each other for the ball. I hope we refreshing that every game until we get used to.
See next Sunday. I'M IN Ronnie.
Tano thanks for reminding me to talk about playing "quiet", and letting the player on the ball make his decision (right or wrong), rather than having to process 6 voices asking for different things. I thought the boys did a great job on Sunday-really looking forward to the Morelia match this week!
ReplyDeleteAny time Roniildo, and yes it was way much better. Now we have James and when we have Leo John Vicente and I in the roster, we can make 4-3-3 play short team , but in case we have no subs, we may need to relegate our lines and do 4-5-1. after 60 min of play. You start to notice who have enough resistance to play the whole 90 minutes and who don't. and based on that John can organize the subs.
DeleteMorellia do lot of fouls and like to argue with the referee too short team so in the corners kicks we need to put Tim, James, Jim, Leo, Dan and Mike R. in the PK dot, and try to put the ball there highly and no spin in the ball. We have at least 5 corner kicks for game and we make only one goal like that by Mike R. vs. Stamford at the end of the game, so we need to improve something different and I think our mistake is we put short and not enough people in the box (we can practice this on Sunday before the game).
nice to see the 6 packs returning to the post game social :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is all about after all :)
