MATCH REPORT; Wallingford Morelia 0 Madison 0

A game that saw Madison Celtic spurn numerous gilt edged chances to score ended as a 0 0 stalemate against Wallingford Morelia. The Celts had gone in to this game against the bottom team hopeful of claiming all three points. But poor finishing and bad luck meant that the Madison visitors could only claim a solitary point.

Man of the Match;  Another great display by Dan M earns him the  MOM!

NEXT GAME; Sunday August 30th vs Wallingford Morelia

We have a chance of all three  points this weekend with a game against Wallingford Morelia. They are having a pretty tough season...yes tougher than us!  So make it an even worse one for them by winning this Sunday! Looks like we have a much stronger squad than last week.

As it stands today ( with a couple of players still to check in ) we have 6 subs. 3 for defense, 2 for middle and 1 up front.  So no giving me crap on the sidelines!

This is an away game at Pragman Park in Wallingford starting at 10am. Directions below;

PRAGMAN PARK:

I-91 to Exit 15
, Southbound right, Northbound left, go about 2 miles and take right onto Route 150. Take first left, then

left onto Oak Street. Field on left.

Route 15 (Wilbur Cross / Merritt Parkway) to Exit 66, Southbound right, Northbound left, go to second traffic light (auto dealer on left) and take left at V fork. Go to end to traffic light, take left and go under railroad bridge and take an immediate right, then a left onto Oak Street. Field on left.

MATCH REPORT; Waterbury Albanians 4 Madison 2

A real backs to the wall game by all accounts against Waterbury Albanians, a team riding high in the league standings. With a small squad of 12 players it was always going to be a tough ask but the Celts played well and with new player James on board actually had a real attacking edge. A final score of 4 2 doesn't really do justice to the great saves by Dustin that kept the Celts in the game and the superb goals scored by the visitors. The Celts held the home team at 1 1 until they tired but the goals sounded fantastic.  James G had a fantastic debut game and scored a goal of the season contender. The other, scored by Tano was a great sweeping move with Ronnie moving the ball to James G who then found  Johnny I overlapping down the right wing. He nipped past their left back and crossed a great ball into the box where Tano was on the spot to slam it into the net.

The Celts are so close to being a really good team, just need some luck!

MOM; Great performances by JohnnyI, TomP and James but the MOM goes to Dustin for some superb saves that kept the Celts in the game

PS  I wasn't at the game so no pics but i tried to imagine the man of the match Dustin in LEGO style!

Match Report; Madison 0 Stamford City 1

How the Celts managed to lose this game is beyond explanation. The opposition, although tidy, were no great shakes. The had two attempt on goal through the whole game an scored with one. The Celts had at least ten fabulous chances to score from Johnny B, Tano, Leo, Johnaldo and several others and none of them went in. A very frustrating game as the Celts dominated possession and had some great moves throughout the match. The one great take away is that the team is playing well and is creating chances. We just need to convert over an action of those chances in to goals

Man of the Match;  Some good performances throughout the team but I think Dan's defensive and offensive play was a strong feature of the game and he earns the mom!

I'm uploading some of the video I took of the game....have fun watching

NEXT GAME; Sunday 16th August vs Stamford City

The Summer is almost over and the new late Summer /Fall section of the league season starts up this Sunday with a home game against Stamford City. This is a 10 am kick off at Cox field and I know Ronnie and I are hoping for a good squad turn out and a strong start to the season restart. The last time we played Stamford we lost 2-1 in a well balanced even match. Let's go for the 3 points guys!

This Blog is Your Blog, This Blog is My Blog......This Blog Was Made for You and Me......Sing along now!

Hi guys, a quick summary on Blog usage!  I started this blog in 2008 to help facilitate communication  around team matters. People were complaining about the volume of email they were getting and the blog was a useful tool for reducing email. I think it achieved that goal and surprisingly the blog has ended up with a global reach! Since 2008 the blog has had over over 600 new posts with 46,000 individual site visits creating over 130,000 page views and generated over 13,000 comments!

The global reach can be seen below with the various page views tracked against the major countries that the visitors are viewing from.  All of you could be major personalities in Russia and Turkey!  Even North Korea?

The big question I have is do we still need the blog?  I'm not sure the volume of traffic to the site shows that all of you are using it. Email is being used again and I'm amazed the number of times I get asked by txt and email what time the game is on, and where, even after it has been posted on the blog!  We also have a Facebook page for the team that has some followers from the team but clearly not all;

So tell me what you think. I have kept the blog going for 7 years and I'm happy to keep it going if it's useful for everyone. But if I'm only doing this for some people in China and North Korea then maybe it's time to call it a day.
