Guilford Celtic is a Connecticut based team playing in the Shoreline Adult Soccer League since 2010. The team was formed in 2003 and played in the Connecticut Adult Recreational Soccer League for 7 years. In 2017 we changed our name from Madison to Guilford Celtic! The team is inspired by Glasgow Celtic FC...probably the greatest football team on the planet!

Big Question Guys....Please Read!
I know some of you have complained about our home field. It's pretty terrible and to be honest we don't get made to feel that welcome at the surf club. We have all seen the times that the field has had no lines, no grass cut or no goalposts in place for our game. Adult soccer is pretty low on the totem pole for Madison Town. The suggestion has been made that we move to Cox School field in Guilford as our home ground for the upcoming season. We have Dan on our team who can help with fields and I'm sure losing the beach can be offset by having a field we can rely on.
Tell me what you think? We have to act on this fairly quickly so it would be good to get your views asap. Not sure if we have to change our name to Guilford Celtic ( Dan suggested Guilford Rangers.... Nooooooo! ). Maybe we can have Madison-Guilford Celtic?
Anyway tell me what you think

Ronnie's vote is to move to Cox ASAP. it's a nice field, and we can also picnic at the site after the game. I would go for "Guilford Celtic", as long as you can convert the historical blog!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll check Ronnie. It would be easier for me to keep Madison on the blog domain name but we can add in Guilford to our overall name. Mad Guilford Celts
ReplyDeleteMad Guilford Celts has a nice ring to it :-). let's see what the rest of the guys think about a new name or keep it as Madison Celtic? If the town of Guilford doesn't raise an issue with Madison Celtic playing at Cox, then we can leave our name as is?
ReplyDeleteWe should Celtic without question. Town doesn't matter. Dont we have more Guilford than Madison players anyways? Whatever Dan thinks, beside being Ranger, to secure ground is good. LaBoca
ReplyDeleteHi Danny, yes we have more Guilford guys for sure!
ReplyDeleteI find it puzzling that a town with Madison's money has such a pitiful field. Guilford has better field choices in general. However, I have seen Cox in rough shape from time to time. Dan the man has a way of working field magic. The beach was a nice perk. Is that indifferent enough?
ReplyDeletethe kids get access and priority for the best fields Dustin The new artificial turf field at the beach would be great but we can't get access to it
DeleteDustin, it's an up or down vote...come on!
ReplyDeleteThe best way is to open a new arena in Madison with turf field and everybody play for free during winter I put a soccer school Bruce will running the bar Berooz will make the blue prints for free and the place will be like soccer fundation to have tax credit. For the name just put Celtic USA or Celtic oldboys. Turf field will be the best opiton whatever town is avaliable.
ReplyDeleteI like your thinking Tano! How much will the land cost???
ReplyDelete715 Richies Way, Guilford, CT
Delete4.02 acres
LOT/LAND
$389,000
EST. MORTGAGE
$1,440/mo
I spent a lot of years plying on Guilford fields. The experience has been good therefore, I will lean towards Guilford. Just avoid the turf during the summer.
ReplyDeleteThumbs up for Cox/Guilford.

ReplyDeleteBest scrimmage so far guys! Thanks for showing up and getting involved- have a great week, and see you next Sunday- TomA will let us know the time
ReplyDeleteRonnie
Not everyone has weighed in on the field question, but COX school looks like a no brainer from the responses so far. If you still want to vote, you'll need to hurry because I need to move on this. Getting the paperwork from the league and town approval takes time, and SASL need to know our home field status before they can schedule our matches.....Ronnie
