Guilford Celtic is a Connecticut based team playing in the Shoreline Adult Soccer League since 2010. The team was formed in 2003 and played in the Connecticut Adult Recreational Soccer League for 7 years. In 2017 we changed our name from Madison to Guilford Celtic! The team is inspired by Glasgow Celtic FC...probably the greatest football team on the planet!

Go about 4 miles to the fourth traffic light and turn right onto Sodom Avenue (Burger King is on the right). Go around the plaza and take the first left onto David Humphreys Road. Go uphill past the stop sign, Bradley School is on the left, and then go downhill to the next stop sign. Turn right onto Sentinel Hill Road. The entrance to Witek Park is on the right (before the reservoir). Drive through the open metal gates onto a gravel road. The soccer fields are at the end of the road. Parking is available.

Stay on Route 34 East until you go through about 5 traffic lights (you will be passing Tailgators restaurant, a Mobil gas station and a cemetery). Stay in the left lane so that you can turn left onto Sentinel Hill Road. Go uphill about 1 mile, staying left at the fork, past the stop sign. The entrance to Witek Park is on the right (before the reservoir). Drive through the open metal gates onto a gravel road. The soccer fields are at the end of the road. Parking is available.
Route 8 North to Exit 15 (Route 34 East). At the end of the exit ramp turn right onto Route 34 East. Go through 4 traffic lights to Sentinel Hill Road on the left. Follow the above directions to the park.
Teams should note that NO ALCOHOL is allowed in the park!
Match Report; Guilford Celtic 0 Greenwich Gunners 1
A 1 nil defeat against a strong and aggressive Gunners team on the face of it is not bad. Although the Celts clearly set themselves up to defend and try not to lose. Great performances by Dustin and David helped to keep the Celts competitive throughout the game. The goal was lost at a set piece and unfortunately the home team never looked likely to score through out the game.
MOM; Goes to both Dustin and David

NEXT GAME; Sunday 11th June vs Greenwich Gunners
Another tough game is on the cards when the Greenwich Gunners visit Bittner park for their 10am game against the Celts. The Gunner actually won Division 1 last year but were relegated because they fielded an underage player. Last week they hammered Guilford Bell curve 8 0. So, no huge expectations on this one but we really should go out and enjoy ourselves and who knows!
Home game, Bittner Park, 10am Kick off!
MATCH REPORT; Guilford Celtic 2 Greenwich Arsenal 5
The Celts lost 5 2, and there is no doubt about that, but this was never a 5 2 game. In fact the Guilford team more than held their own against the league leaders and were a goal up in the first half with only a few minutes left when the Arsenal team equalized. Maybe a fairer reflection of the half as Dustin and the defense were extremely busy during the game. The midfielders were playing hard with Johnny B and Todd most notable in the first half and the attacking line of Michael, Rob, Ravi and Tano fought hard through the half. The second half was similar to the first but unfortunately Arsenal were ruthless taking advantage of any errors and got 3 more goals before Johnny B slammed in the goal of the game. If the game ended then it would have been disappointing but the ref decided to award a last minute penalty to the visitors to allow them to emphasize their superiority in the game. Still, it didn't feel that the score was a fair reflection of our effort. A lot to play for in this season!
Man of the Match; Great performance again from Dustin and the defence although the score doesn't provide the evidence for that. The midfielders fought hard throughout the game and it was a toss up between Johnny B and Todd for MOM but i couldn't split them so two winners in this one!
